The University of Southern Mississippi plans to open a sorority village by 2007 to house all of its nine sororities. Southern Miss officials expect to decide on a location for the nine-unit sorority housing by March and ask the College Board by summer for approval to issue bonds to pay for the development. Wilbur Hall, which is where the sororities are currently housed, will be renovated into a freshman dorm.

Nine sororities now share space in the eight-story Wilbur Hall, more commonly known as the Panhellenic House. It was built in 1963.
