Thumbs up The Wizard of Oz is on now

So the Wizard of Oz is on now--did anyone else wonder, as a child, why Dorothy didn't just keep turning over the hourglass so the red sand wouldn't run out?

I saw The Wizard of Oz at the movies on a BIG screen when I was 3. It scared me so badly I cried all the way home. I never have been a big fan of that movie since then.

I am reading my friends book "Wicked THe Life and TImes of the Wicked Witch of the West" (gregory maguire)..its an interesting, semi-boring but makes you still want to read it, twisted version of the wizard of oz. It gives like her background and why she became the way she is. My friend told me the end is the best part of the book I am about half way so it should be picking up soon.

So funny that this has turned into a "family" film, when it's original purpose was to scare people away from drugs. My teacher told us what most of the stuff meant, but I forgot. He said that in the 25th Anniversary edition there is a commentary with everything.

ETA: This is what I found online. Anyone know if this is a legitimate website?

Stepmom with Julia Roberts is such a tear jerker. I bawl my eyes out every time I see it. I fell asleep on the couch waiting for Erin Brokovich to come on NBC! Woke up at 1 am.. <sigh> I hate when I do that. I'm all messed up now, can't sleep and I have to work in the morning.

I had a phobia of fire when I was a kid so I would freak when the witch sets the scarecrow on fire in Wizard of Oz.

Crazy dog wants to play at 2 am.. ugh!

"To-to too!"

I read that the English actress who played Glinda was a very dignified woman and was forced into the role by her studio. Can you imagine someone dignified having to wear that getup and play that role?LOL!

We saw the original Grinch last night...I can't wait for the holiday specials! My younger daughters are excited about the American Girl movie that'll be showing on Tuesday night.

Talking

mmcat, you spent to much time in the poppy field!

I am sure that there was symbolisim there some where but Hell, I loved the munchkins.

Who were The Stars who played each character? Who was supposed to be one of the stars but was replaced?

Just a Little Oz Trivia!

I will go first-- Oh Like heck I will!

i'm watching that too. and yes, i have wondered that. but i've also wondered why people in scary movies run upstairs intead of out the door when the killer is chasing them. but whatever's good for the movie i guess.
