Delta Week ideas

Hi! I'm the VPCD at my chapter (Phi Rho, Pacific), and I need some new ideas as to what to do for Delta Week. What does your chapter do for each of the days (Dolphin, Pearl, etc.)? Do you have any fun activities? I would love to hear what other chapters do, because I want to make it really fun this year! Thanks.

Today is the last day of my chapter's Delta Week (Gamma Nu, Westminster College, Missouri) and this will be the second Delta Week I've planned (yay for COR girls). Some of the things I've done that people have told me are really fun:

I made plain badge replicas from posterboard, got a lot of paint, markers, stickers, etc. and had new members decorate the new member badge and older members decorate the stars and crescent badge however they wanted to show what they've learned/how they feel/what they think of while they've worn their badge. (Though I warn you this can take a lot of prep time even with a smaller chapter.)

If you know somewhere you could have a bonfire, firesides are usually a lot of fun for my chapter. A bonding activity you can do there is to give everyone a fallen pinecone when the fire starts to die down a little (or if you're having trouble getting it to start). Once everyone has a pinecone, have each member throw them in one by one after saying what they think they bring to Tri Delta. After the last person has gone, point out that the fire is much brighter when everyone brings their talents and personalities to the group, much in the same way your chapter and Tri Delta as a whole are improved by the presence of each individual member.

Movie night is also popular and can be tweaked in many different ways so that everyone is engaged and it's different each time. Pick a movie that's strong on the value of sisterhood (or at least shows strong bonds between female friends), have snacks (ask the chapter for suggestions because they can ask for some pretty weird things--mine asked for a small melon tray and chocolate...go figure how that works out), you can also have people bring nail polish, makeup, etc. and show girls what is and isn't okay for ritual attire (always good to review).

Ice cream sundae night is also fun. Vanilla ice cream and toppings are fairly cheap and easy to procure...but throw in a twist: label the ice cream and each topping to be a fundamental value of Tri Delta, but leave the special labels covered until after each girl has made her sundae (don't let them start eating until you reveal what each label really is--Tri Delta-style). Then explain that as Tri Deltas it's up to us to live the values of Tri Delta every day, because opportunities are all around us.

I hope that's enough ideas to get you started on a really fun Delta Week! Congrats to you and your chapter for all the fine new members you'll be initiating!
