Question alum initiantions

Hello,

This is my first posting, so please bear with me. I rushed the Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Omicron Chapter last year. I am very involved and currently serve on our executive council. I have started to make use of our alumnae master list, and in doing so I happened to meet a women who was the girl that sought out Alpha Gamma Delta as a Sorority. She met with the Fraternity and was key in the successful implementation of our chapter. Unfortunately, she graduated a few months prior to the charters activation. This girl bleeds red, buff, and green. She is still incredibly close to all of our charter members, and she feels like an Alpha Gam.
Someone recently told me that it is possible to initiate someone as an alum. Is this possible, and what do I need to do? This would mean the world to her.
Thanks for your input.

Tiffany

Hi Tiffany! Welcome to GC!

My advice would be to have her check out CutiePie2000's advice to Prospective Alumnae Initiates. It's a FAQ page with info compiled over a period of time. There are a bunch of Alumnae Initiated GCers who have provided us with stories of their progress and tips on conducting a successful AI journey. Keep in mind that this information is GENERAL, and not specific to Alpha Gam.

For some fortunate ones, the journey is a quick and easy process. Others aren't so lucky though. If the AI route is what SHE decides to do, she has to make sure that she's 110% into this. It's going to take some effort from her as AI can at times be a long and tiring process.

Many of my chapter sisters were AI-ed when my chapter was installed in 1992 and many of them are still actively involved in the alumnae chapter. Our alumnae president is an AI herself, and it always amazes me to see how much love she puts into AGD even though she was initiated only 14 years ago.

I wish your friend the best of luck!

Loyally,
Sandy

Also discuss this with your Chapter Advisor. The Membership Handbook details the steps involved with AI. In a situation like this, I don't think it would take too much to make it happen. I am kind of surprised that they didn't initiate her as an AI when the chapter had their Installation. It is common to initiate AIs at that time! Was she actually a member of the colony and went through all the Fraternity Education that the chapter was going through?

Dee

Edited to ask: Is she interested in helping the chapter now as an advisor?
