Bill O'Reilly is the man

Forgive me because I already posted this in politics but I was wondering how many other GC's thought the same way that I do.

He's all talk, but no substance. Like Ann coulter, Michael Moore, and Al Franken and other loud mouth pundits who don't have anything substances to say, but since they are loud, people think they have something deep and insightful to say.

I don't think it's necessarily what he says. I don't like the guy much. However, I think he has flashes of greatness when he takes other pundits to task on their positions... like Jesse Jackson

If by "the man" you mean incredibly mean-spirited and stupid - then yeah. I agree with you, he's "the man".

I personally think that O'Reilly should go head to head against Al Sharpton. I would definately pay money to see that. It'll be one of the best debate in decades. of course, the debate shall be WWE style, street brawl.

Bill claims that he gives a no-spin approach to the news, but everytime I've seen anyone say anything he disagrees with, he doesn't engage them in any form of point/counterpoint arguement. Instead, he yells at them, cuts them off, and prevents them from sayign what they are trying to say. It's the only trick in his bag, and he seems to claim victory in an arguement by getting the other person to stop talking.

He's hardly a serious journalist. Wasn't he on Hard Copy? or Inside Edition? A Current Affair?

The man is smart. Whether he says much I care to listen to is another thing. It's all sorta commonsense. My favorite is when he said Michael Jackson should join Polanski in another country because he couldn't survive. He didn't say it would be right to do it but that if he were Michael that's what he would do. All these women flipped out for no reason. It was commonsense.

First, wanted to point out that this is one of the first posts I've ever seen on this site that goes after both Al Franken and Ann Coulter; I'm glad someone can draw the parallels between talking heads on both sides of the coin.

As far as O'Reilly - he is actually quite intelligent, but it doesn't always come off that way in his show. I saw him speak at Boston U. a couple of years ago (he's a grad of the Master's program in journalism), and he was quite a good speaker. Unfortunately on TV he too often goes for the entertainment aspect, the quick shot.

A smart man that realizes how political debates on TV shows are won. The head that talks the loudest wins.

I noticed that too!

I like the man and agree with 90% of his comments. I do see the flaws when he argues and have thought, Now c'mon Bill, admit you're wrong. He can't admit when he makes a mistake.

His books are great-that's where you see the "common sense" Rudey refers to really shine. Of course, as with anything, you have to separate the wheat from the chaff.

justamom you must not watch the O'Reilly Factor, he just issued an apology to a lawyer regarding the boy scouts case against San Diego saying he was wrong.

I MISSED THAT!!! phigamucsb-Thanks for mentioning that. I have to grab it when I can. He's on at 7-too early and 10 (after Gretta) If lucky, I make it through about 30-45 mins and start my zzzzzzzz's.

I love his opening and when I can make it-the letters from his viewers. It's just such a crummy time. I wish he was on at 9.

SO, (unlike Bill sometimes) I STAND CORRECTED!
