Members oweing money
Many of our chapters have a hard time collecting money from members. What are some ways you regulate on people for not paying dues, etc.?

Our actives take late dues pretty seriously. To keep a chapter running requires everyone to do their part, especially financially.
We do use Omega Fi. Any member that we cannot collect on within 90 days (at the treasurer's discretion) is sent to collections.
Other than that, we have 3 cutoff points.
At 30 days, you are suspended. You're not allowed to use chapter facilities (parking, house, etc.) and are not welcome at any chapter functions.
At 60 days, you forfeit any office held.
At 90 days, procedings get underway to remove your affiliation.
Now, that may all sound fairly draconian. The 90 days thing is used as a last resort and only if no payment plan has been able to succeed.

My finance advisor was looking for a possible company. I've sent the link.
Thanks again GC!

For us, after 30 days if dues arent paid, those members are put on financial probation---meaning they cannot attend social functions outside of required Theta ones, and MUST be present at all required Theta activities. After that one of two things or both will happen: membership is terminated and/or you are put on a list of financially delinquent and turned into HQ who then turns you in to a collection agency..........usually if it goes that far, membership is terminated.

Just wanted to reiterate - Omega Fi is GREAT! They have wonderful customer service as well!
However, if you default on your payments, they WILL turn your account over to a collection agency, and that particular company is TERRIBLE! If anything, PAY YOUR BILLS SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE PEOPLE FROM ALLIANCEONE!!!
Not that I'd know.

We usually do this if a member has not paid:
the member is suspended for 30 days. during that time, that person is not allowed to hold any office, attend any Fraternity function, wear any letters. If after the 30 days has expired and No type of arraingment has been made to pay off Dues, that member will be expelled from the Chapter.

I guess we were pretty lenient about dues at my chapter. We had monthly or weekly payment plans which were quite affordable for people who couldn't make one lump semester payment. We didn't have a house so that wasn't an issue. We had a few sisters who couldn't pay, but they usually had bigger problems.

What % does Omega get?
We've been discussing it and found out that 1 chapter uses Omega but O collects 14% fee.
Is this normal?

All collection agencies keep part of the collection. That's just standard.
I'll note, as a former Treasurer, that there might be national rules about sending people to a collection agency and you should always check with them before you do.
