Reveille, the Texas A&M Mascot

I personally think that Reveille kicks Uga's ass.

Not only is she better looking, but she's been around longer than Uga.

Reveille I came to Texas A&M in January 1931. A group of cadets hit a small black and white dog on their way back from Navasota. They picked up the dog and brought her back to school so they could care for her. The next morning, when "Reveille" was blown by a bugler, she started barking. She was named after this morning wakeup call. The following football season she was named the official mascot when she led the band onto the field during their half-time performance. When Reveille I died on January 18, 1944, she was given a formal military funeral on the gridiron of Kyle Field. She was then buried at the north entrance to the field, as all Reveilles are, facing the scoreboard so that she can always watch the Aggies outscore their opponent.

After construction of the Zone at Kyle Field, which obstructs the view of the Reveilles, a small scoreboard was placed on the outside of the Zone, so they could always see how their Ags were doing.

My favorite part of the Rev tradition, is that she attends all classes with the Mascot Corporal of Company E-2. If Rev barks in the middle of class, Class is over for the day!

KS 361 more rank Rev has than Uga

I love that story - I think that is my favorite of all the A&M lore. You can't forget to mention that if Reveille is sleeping on a cadet's bed, he then has to sleep on the floor.

Also, the protests that occured when the Zone construction began not to disturb the Reveilles' gravesites.

Aw. I think she's cute. Not as cute as Uga, but definitely heads and shoulders above the MS State bulldog and Tennessee's Smokey dog.

Thanks for sharing with us!

What if she barks 5 minutes into the class or on test days? Does class still get dismissed? That would be so awesome, lol.

Although I "bleed burnt orange" and i probably would get hit if my parents heard me say this but I think the aggie traditions are pretty bad ass.
