Moving to Dallas
I am moving to the metroplex this week and figured I'd ask the board about fun stuff to do in Dallas and I guess even Texas too.
I've done a search on this but can't find anything too good.
Besides the 4 major sports in Dallas, what clubs, bars, etc. do I need to check out?

Well, ya got three major entertainment areas in the Dallas area. The West End is at the west end of downtown right by Dealey Plaza (where JFK was whacked). Deep Ellum is at the eastern end of downtown on Elm Street and Lower Greenville Avenue near there as well.
Be aware Dallas liquor laws are strange - each county precinct determines wheter to be dry, partially dry (beer and wine only) or wet. In the dry areas you may be asked to fill out a membership card or be asked for a Unicard. Doesn't cost anything (unless you want a fancy Unicard that's good for a lifetime). Plus, smoking is not permitted in bars and restaurants within Dallas.
For variety in restaurants and nightlife there's Addison and Far North Dallas - all kinds of bars and restaurants there.
Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
P.S. Tulsa, huh? Used to live there myself as well (off 61st and Memorial).

Lower Greenville or Addison is a must - Duke's is a personal favorite of mine
I also would pick a Star's game anyday over a Cowboy's game unless you get lucky and can land some suite sky box seats at Texas Stadium
As far as the rest though I really can only tell you what ER's to stay away from

There are so many different places within DFW, and we all like different atmospheres. Once you get here it is easy to figure out though.
For general things to do I consult http://www.guidelive.com. It always has what currently is going on.
I have friends that hang out all over the metroplex. My friend's into music prefer Deep Ellum. My older friends prefer N.Dallas hang outs such as Carson's. I prefer Sherlock's in Addison to Duke's. But Duke's is okay. Just a different atmosphere.
What part of DFW are you moving to? That tends to make a difference in the best happy hours. In Richardson it tends to be Humperdink's, or if you play pool Wizard's or the Fox & Hound. In they northwest area Pugsly's is pretty fun.
For a while bars in the Knox-Henderson area were the only place to be, such as Samba Room. But the truly hip places change daily it seems. D Magazine sometimes can give a hint. And the Guide helps too.
Feel free to PM. We are pretty friendly here in Dallas.

Oh, believe me, I know all about Dave & Busters.
I am going to be living in Arlington, and in fact just minutes from Six Flags and The Ballpark.
I will be sure to check out Greenville and will have to venture to Addison. Both seem to be what I am looking for.
AlphaSigOU, I too live just off 61st & Memorial...how weird!
KristinAGD, thanks for the link. This was just what I was looking for.
Thanks for the help!

I totally understand the addiction. On my birthday everyone just kept playing and playing to win tickets until they won me a D&B putter. It was so much fun!! I always keep my PowerCard in my purse. Just in case.
I also used to live near Tulsa. My Dad still lives in Claremore. My favorite mall has always been Woodland Hills since I was 10. It is not too big, but has all the best stores. Shopping in malls down here has become a sport they are so big.

My one tie to Claremore... I'm a perpetual member of Will Rogers Lodge #53, Brother Will's home lodge. I was Junior Steward in 2001 and Senior Steward in 2001.

I'm sorry, there wasn't anything I liked about Dallas...
Stuff closed up by 12 AM and there were tons of drunk drivers on the road--that was uncool...
And I lived near Love Field, Little Mexico, The Bubble and UT Southwestern--where I worked...
Guess that's why I got married so that I could move to Seattle...

AKA Monet's post reminded me of one other thing. Plano people have several nice hang outs. Jack Astor's being one of my favorites. But they all head down to the Richardson bars because everything closes up in Plano at midnight. 1am on Saturdays. Richardson is 2am.
Denton had everything closing up at midnight also. But that was good while going to school at UNT. Kept me from staying up those extra two hours the night before class. Unless I was at an after party.
Dallas & Addison close up shop at 2am. Not sure about Arlington.
