Has anyone here ever thrown a baby shower? My mom asked me to help her plan one for a co-worker. Any tips/suggestions/game ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Ideas needed for:

Food - I was thinking a potluck thing

Good punch recipies

Baby games

Anything else I'm forgetting....

One of my coworkers threw one for one of our other coworkers before she had her baby. She held it on a Sunday and had a brunch so people would be able to attend that normally had to work (they could go to work right after). It was nice. She had a fruit salad, tea, coffee and juice, egg caserol, donuts, rolls, etc.

They did a baby game where you had to unscramble words and who ever got the most right won a little door prize. Then as a centerpiece she arranged a baby diaper pyramid and had blue ribbons (since it was a boy) decorated around it. It was nice and quaint.

Hope that helps

One fun baby game is the baby food challenge. You remove the labels from various jars of baby food and mark a number on each jar with a sharpie. The guests get to look at and smell the jars, but not taste them. They write on a piece of paper what they think each jar is, and the person with the most right wins.

Thanks for the ideas Hootie and KappaKittyKat =) I especially like the baby food jar game.

Tom...I'm not sure my MOM will go for a Vickie's party... If she does, I've been at school too long because she's a new woman!

There is at least one book in existence full of baby shower games... maybe you could check the library.

A friend of mine threw a shower for her daughter, and they played this nursery rhyme game-- guests had to make a list of all of the titles they could. This could also be the scrambled word game Hootie mentioned.

There's also the tray game. Put random baby items on the tray, bring it out, have the guests look at it for 30 seconds or so, and then take the tray out of the room. The person who remembers the most items wins.

edited to add I just did a google search of "baby shower" and came up with this site.

baby shower games

Enjoy!

Do you have a wishing well for baby showers or is that for bridal showers? I forget. I have been to quite of few of both types of showers. A luncheon is nice for a baby shower. You can buy tiny baby bottles and fill them with jelly beans or other candy as gifts for the guests. You can make chocolate molds in the shape of cradles or baby stroller. It's not too hard if you are creative. If not, you can buy ribbons that say Blank's Baby Shower and the date in blue and pink and tie them onto pink and blue balloons. If you know the gender, choose the appropriate color ribbon. I love showers.
