Post Ebay Auctions

Hey Ladies,

I got a huge thrill because just bought my first Ebay item...a 1930 Alpha Gam songbook! Woo Hoo! I am so excited!

Have the rest of you ever bought/bid on Ebay? What kinds of things have you bought?

I'm still caught in that mess with Carri who used to be in the Wayne State chapter. So far, she hasn't replied to my complaint on eBay, so I'm waiting to get a statement from my bank saying that the check was cashed. When I get that proof I'm sending that, plus a copy of the ebay page saying that I won the auction to Lloyd's--eBay's insurance company. They're going to investigate even more (UGH) and from then I'll find out if I'm entitled to a refund.

Now I'm also worried because I won an AGD license plate holder...sent in my money via paypal, and the seller got back to me right away. She said she was going to include some AGD stickers from her daughter (an AGD) who just graduated so I'm like okay, I'll just wait a few more days. This took place before I left for Convention! She's apologized to me through email already! I emailed her on Monday asking why I haven't gotten the item yet, but she hasn't gotten back to me. I have no luck on eBay, I SWEAR! I noticed that the people who won her auctions around the same time I did haven't posted any feedback for her either, so I don't know what's going on!

Be careful, sisters!

Cool

I bought a AGD crest engraving that is suppose to be from 1911 - but the key word here is "suppose" I got it and instantly noticed that it didn't appear to be old at all. I spent thirty bucks on it - so it kind of urks me, but I decided to keep it. It is still neat and I am going to have it framed. I believe the guy just printed it off his computer. He sent it to me all wraped up in cardboard - and the card board was from a "lexmark" printer....yeah. On a side note a bought a bracelet with red and green beads with a squirrel charm and that was pretty neat. You just need to be careful, you never know what you are going to end up with!!

I checked out the latest auctions today and noticed that the AGD songbook was already at a whopping $41!!!!

It got me concerned. I know we all want that special AGD something (I've wanted a songbook since spring 2000), but come on folx, the auction started only yesterday and already it's up to $41??? I can only imagine how much it's going to be once the auction ends.

My solution is this. If you pay attention to the auctions (or if you're an eBay freak like me), you'll notice that many similar things pop up often. I've seen songbooks up every week...or every two weeks...so they're not really that "rare". Keep the max bids to a minimum, and if you get outbid, then bid again! It keeps the price low and saves a lot of money.

Also, I also tend not to bid on things when I know who the highest bidder is, unless I really have to have it because it's one of a kind. That's something I learned from my alumnae. I'm not saying you should do it too, but you should keep it in mind.

It's better to bid on items closer to the time it closes. Bidding on something that still has 6 days to go is pointless. (that's 6 days of people viewing and bidding on the item!) It just drives the price higher. Make note at when it ends and try to be there when the item closes. Bid a few mins before it ends.

Cool

There is an AGD songbook at http://www.alibris.com/

Just thought you guys might want to take a look at it just incase the ebay songbook price goes out of wack- they're asking 62.50 at alibris, perhaps you should keep it in mind.
