Tracks

Does anyone else live near railroad tracks?? I live like 2 blocks from a set of 2 tracks and it's absolutely unbearable. There are trains that come at: 10:15, 10:20, 12:10, 1:40, 2:15, 3:40, 5ish, 6:20, and one around 7:30. It keeps me up all the damn time. And they will absolutely lay on their horns too. It's so close I can hear the wheels, so of course the horns are wall-shaking. How can I deal w/ this???

There are train tracks less than 100 feet away from one of the dorm complexes here at Nebraska: Here a campus map to demonstrate my point.

Occasionally from the opposite edge of campus, where my house is (like 8 blocks away) I can hear the train but the conditions have to be right. I know that the residents in those dorms have to deal with trains at all times of the night, which would absolutely suck. I don't really know what to tell you.

Ahh, I work downtown and about twice a day I hear trains pass and it totally gets on my nerves. Sorry you have to go through that.

I live near railroad tracks back home. I love the sounds of trains when I sleep. For some reason, they reassure me. Like there is life going on outside of that little sleepy town. And that faraway adventures might happen.

Yup, they are literally in our back yard... approx. 50 ft away. It's enough to shake the house and cease all conversation when they go by.

Despite this, I've found you simply get used to it. They don't wake me up anymore, and half the time I just turn up the tv/radio/whatever when they're going by and don't even notice it.
