I-Week

Hey all!

I just wanted to share a disturbing story with you all. It is our I-Week and we have had great events planned for days. Yesterday we painted the rock located in the middle of campus. Or MC's were looking forward to this activity so much, they made a schedule to claim the rock. At 7 am they started there "camp out" and all day kept turning away people who tried to kick them out and take over the rock. Well last night at about 4 am a fraternity (I won't mention any names) came and egged our poor girls, and painted their coats and blankets, etc. Not only did they do that, but they were shoving them around and being rude and disrespectful. Our girls worked to save the rock all day to paint it. I'm very proud that our girls stood there ground being outnumbered by fraternity boys, but also because they respect the letters in which they soon will be able to wear. On the otherhand I'm very disapointed in the fraternity, I understand that they also wanted to paint the rock, but they didn't put in the time and effort like they should have. Also their action are unexcusable and blatenly rude. I plan on having either our pledgemaster or president address their president today and DEMAND an appology. Is this too much to expect?

Write a letter to the HQ of these kids. This is NOT the type of behavior that should characterize fraternities.

What the hell were they thinking?

if you're greek standards board is up to par, this would be a case that should go before them.

I definately agree with what everyone else has said so far! What they did was *not* right! If it were me in that situation, I would definately take some kind of action.

I agree with jess_pom. Now that it's after the fact, I would at least contact your greek advisor or the IFC president.

That is so unacceptable! An apology is the least you should expect. How about renumeration for the coats destroyed? This is something also, as everyone said, that MSU's Greek standards board should know about as well as the fraternity's nationals.

Someone was definitely not feeling the Greek harmony here!

That is terrible! What were they thinking. If I was that fraternity I would take a good hard look at their new members. The school should do something about this! It just amazes me that people would do something like that.

Heres an update:

After discussing things with the president and most of the e-board members, we are very upset at what happened. We wanted to make sure it wasn't just how one person felt, but the general concensus is that we deserve an appology.... bare minimum.

Our president is calling the president of the fraternity today. We are also going to write a letter to their national headquarters, as well as let them know we are writing that letter. Than can appologize for their actions, but it still leaves a very negative image of greek life on our MC's (we are not part of the greek system here at MSU) I hope everyone can always be proud of their letters and never do anything to their organization look bad.

Whether you formally participate in NPC or whatever is irrelevant. You are a sorority, you interact with fraternities (in a negative way maybe) but nevertheless you are STILL part of the Greek System. Because your Greek, just like them
