On Campus Job?

Anyone else have an on campus job? If so are they loose about hours since you are a student? Hopefully I'll be getting a one day a week job sitting at a computer lab waiting for someone to ask a question.

I have an on campus job and they're very accomodating with my hours.

The max # of hours I can work a week is 20...with the exception of the first two weeks of fall and spring semester [our busiest time] where we're cleared to work 40.

You're expected to work at least 10 per week, but that was in the job description.

Because of my seniority I now have Mondays and Fridays off!

I worked on campus for two years and it was awesome. The hours are flexible, the pay is decent, and you hardly ever have to do actual work.

last semester i worked on campus...it was a great opportunity. i worked as a desk assistant at the dorms. basically i sat at the front desk and got paied to socialize, or do homework. the desk was staffed 24/7 so if i worked 12-8 am i got paid more. we were only allowed to work 20 hours a week so our school work did not suffer. the other thing i liked about it was that since i was a student they took out less taxes.

I worked on campus for about a year. The bad part about that was I was only able to work 19 hours a day.

There were tons of positive things about it though...I got the days off I needed before exams and if I needed study time or whatever, they usually gave me the day off.

I worked my ass off though some days...and the other days...well...I just messed around on the 'Net.

Hey sounds familiar...

They took away my AIM but they'll never take away my GC!

Yeah, they took away my AIM too, so I just went to the AOL website and used AOL Express

Yeah, I tried that too...but they actually made www.aim.com one of the 'inaccessible' sites. They said that AIM and AIM Express were too much of a distraction.

There are tons of ways around it.

http://toc.oscar.aol.com/aimexpress/content.html

And there are a lot more websites that are like AIM express that aren't part of www.aim.com.

Thanks for the link imthechamp. My work had restriction too on downloaded programs, even the AIM express didn't work. I try the link and it would let me. So now i wouldn't be bored at work

AIM addiction

I work on campus and it's a pretty non-demanding job (passing out condoms to people with student id's). We're allowed to do homework or sit on the computer but we can't actually download AIM. Express is my savior! Though I do get really distracted and sometimes don't notice when people walk in.

The job is really flexible. It's really not a job, which is the BEST job.

I work for the school.. It's kind of a class at the same time.. At least it is a learning experience.

I work as a reporter/news anchor for our news station. Basically I show up at 1PM, figure out what to do, go get video/soundbites then head back to the station and edit a package (like a 1 1/2 minute story with a voice over and soundbites) on the subject I am covering.

We air it at 5PM and I usually anchor and am out by 5:30.

Pay is crappy but it's lots of fun... Also is interesting when I get recognized around town by complete strangers

I work on campus as a network consultant...I work 9 hours a week plus whatever extra work I do on my projects...so usually ranging from 9-15 hours. The first two weeks of school I work about 100 hours combined doing sign-up and set up, but my job is pretty cake...I fix things that are broken. It's also great job experience too, and pays well. I don't think I could have handled working off campus, I would have only wanted to work in the mall, which is a half-hour away (and over the Mississippi, which I would be deathly afraid to drive over in snow.)

I work two jobs on campus: giving tours to prospective students and working as a tutor (for classes in Political Science and History!) The pay is at minimum wage, which is the worst part of the job. But, it does give me a lot of flexibility.
