Question Van Wilder

Ok, so I saw the commercials for this movie, and thought I saw a quatrafoil (Phi Mu symbol) fountain. I saw the movie (which is awesome!!) and there it was, a quatrafoil shaped fountain. I'm thinking that maybe there is a connection between the movie and Phi Mu. Tara Reid wears a lot of pink, and her room is pretty much pink and white. Does anyone know what school the movie was filmed at? Maybe there's a connection with that. It'd be interesting to find out, because the only other thing that Phi Mu is "connected" to are the tables at Chili's, and Steel Magnolias.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but found out the other day that I am a distant relation to the star of the movie - I knew he was from Vancouver and grew up in the same neighbourhood I did, but turns out he's my aunt's cousin's son...

I saw Van Wilder...the school is fictional...Coolidge College. I don't recall the fountain. I do remember the girl who pretty much lived to serve Delta Iota Kappa (DIK). She was a Sigma Theta Tau. I think it was funny how they tried to portray sorority girls, but I didn't like the fact that her letters were so close to Sigma Delta Tau. I'm not saying that she was supposed to be an SDT, but I thought that they could have been more creative with her chapter.

Other than that, the movie was hiliarious! Saw it with my boyfriend who is in a fraternity and two of my sorority sisters were there as well....it was a good time and worth it!

Just out of curiousity...what is the Phi Mu connection to Chili's tables?

The owner of Chilis' daughter is a Phi Mu, and our symbol is on the little tiles on the tables. I'm not sure of the whole story, but I remember hearing that. Our symbol is an odd shape, so to see a random fountain in that shape is weird.

Where was it filmed?

Anyone know where it was filmed?

If it was at some single campus, it didn't get a credit.

Having grown up in Boston, Coolidge College was DEFINITELY somewhat based on UMass-Amherst. Saw it with my best friend from home, and he totally agreed!

I have never seen or heard of the movie but I think it's really cool there is a quatrefoil shape in there. I travelled to Florence Italy a few weeks ago and in the facade of one of the cathedrals (cathedral saint croce if any phi mu sisters are ever in Florence) there was a white quatrefoil with a pink background and a face of a lion in the quatrefoil. I thought that ws really cool. I very rarely see the quatrefoil shape outside of Phi Mu because it is an odd shape.

I saw the movie with my husband who is also greek, sorry I didn't notice the Phi Mu stuff, but we did think the movie was hilarious. I can laugh about things and naming the fraternity DIK was just too good. I guess they didn't have it out for the sorority,b/c I didn't notice that their letters had a double meaning

I saw the movie with my husband. I thought it was pretty funny but it could have been better.

I think it was pretty funny that Matt from 90210 was in it.

Quick question: what is the name of the guy who played Van Wilder and what other movies has he been in. I know I've seen him in something else put I just can't figure it out.

Thanks.

The actor that plays Van Wilder is named Ryan Reynolds. He was the jock-love interest in the Melissa Joan Hart movie "Sabrina The Teenage Witch." He was also in a Nickelodeon series called "Fifteen" back in the day, which was kinda like a soap opera for young adults...does anyone else remember this???
