Cousins?
Hi Sorors and SGRho Sisterfriends,
Have you ever heard of SGRhos and Zetas refer to themselves as cousins? If so, is it because of our colors? or something else.

I never heard the cousins aspect but I know on NSU campus (this is before I was a Zeta) they use to say what's up blue.
I have also heard a call between the Zetas and the Rhos. Every region has they own thing.
I just wish every one in GLO would recongize that "We are Family." I have all my sisters with me. OOOOO...I got a little carried away.

I have heard of this COUSINS thing before. But, I really did not understand it. A soror from the Midwestern region told me that in their area, they have a good relationship with Sigma Gamma Rho so this was their way of expressing it.
On my campus, we did not have Sigma Gamma Rho so I never was able to foster a relationship with them to the point where we would call each other COUSINS.
I do think they are a positive organization, and I support them at every point possible. There a some nice members on GC also.

I've never heard of this but on both the campuses I've attended the relationships have been pretty tight. I think it's the Royal Blue that draws us together!

i have never heard of it before, then again, we didn't/don't have SGRho's on our campus! (my mother is a wonderful woman and a member of Sigma Gamma Rho)...
but i would have to agree that it must be a royal blue thang!

This is off topic but I have been wondering why the Sigma Lambda Gammas call you "cousins". If this is privileged information, I understand.

I have never heard the term cousins used for Zetas and SGRhos. I believe it must be the Royal Blue
Well, whoever started calling Zetas and SGRhos cousins.
Thank you for starting a positive relationship.

From what I know Sigma lambda Beta and Sigma Lambda Gamma, fraternity and sorority respectively, call themselves cousins to Sigmas and Zetas because one of Sigma Lambda Beta's founders was a Sigma first and the Gammas are there constitutionally nound sister organization. They are like the Latino Sigma's and Zeta's. I have seen on collegeclub.com where they are included in the definition of "The Blue and White Family", along with the doves and knights....

I have heard of this...
There is not such thing as "like" the Royal Blue Family. You either are, or you are not. I have Sorors of all ethnicities which is fine by me. This notion of cousindom I will not co-sign to AT ALL. Wassup Blue to the Sister Sigmas is absolutely cool with me. Wassup Blue to any Greek with Royal blue as an official color is fine with me.
I will show all Non-Royal Blue Family Greeks love equally. But as a point of clarification, NO FOUNDER of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. deemed it necessary for us to have "extended family" formally. Giving special acknowledgement based on the background of a Founding member of SLB because HIS Founder is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is unecessary.

Excuse me for the invasion but I liked this and thought it should be brought back up.

Heard it
Where I am from in the NC, TN, VA area I have heard a lot of love between ZPB, PBS, and SGR
They have been called: ZetaPhiBetaSigmaGammaRho as the royal family.
As well as Zetas and Gam Rho's as cousins.
