Student Body President Pressured To Resign After His Frat Harassed Anti-Rape Activist

Side bar to over-all stories we all have been seeing about UVA. Given the past issues and problems that GLO's have had at SDSU one would have thought, hoped that they learned something by now.

Student Body President Pressured To Resign After His Frat Harassed Anti-Rape Activists

A student activist group at San Diego State University is calling for the resignation of the student body president because he belongs to one of two fraternities whose members are accused of waving dildos, throwing eggs and shouting obscenities at Take Back The Night marchers last month.
Marchers participating in the anti-sexual assault march reported taunts from the Sigma Phi Epsilon and Delta Sigma Phi fraternity houses, according to the Daily Aztec, an independent campus newspaper. Sigma Phi Epsilon members allegedly shouted obscenities at marchers, while Delta Sigma Phi brothers reportedly waved sex toys and threw eggs. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...n_6305258.html

Can you go post this link over in the UVA thread where someone explains how the anti-rape groups won't be harassed as much as the fraternity was?

Because there definitely isn't a culture that perpetuates sexual violence.

Devil's advocates suck and "playing devil's advocate" is a passive aggressive way of expressing a viewpoint. Just express the viewpoint and own up to it being your viewpoint.

This news story is just like any news story. Most of us have no proof that it occurred other than what we have read. I would love for you to challenge the legitimacy of every incident as reported by the news from this point on. Enjoy.

My viewpoint is that if it happened, as alleged, then the frats in question should be punished and any member who participated should be removed from the chapter.

And if it didn't happen, if the allegation is false, if it turns out that it was actually the marchers harassing the fraternities and yelling obscenities at them, what do you think should happen? Should there be a punishment for the activists?

SDSU Bars Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity From Campus After Members Egg Anti-Rape Marchers:

San Diego State University has removed fraternity Delta Sigma Phi from campus, the school announced Tuesday, after members were accused of waving sex toys and throwing eggs at anti-rape demonstrators.
Citing a "consistent pattern of policy violations," including harassment of Take Back The Night marchers on Nov. 21, as well as "significant hazing and alcohol misconduct issues," the university is closing the Delta Sigma Phi chapter, which will not be allowed to petition for recolonization until fall 2016 at the earliest. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...ushpmg00000052

Both fraternities harrassed the Take Back the Night marchers. The Student Body President is a Sig Ep. They are still under investigation.

Apparently the actions and history of Delta Sig was more egregious. Their actions have already been evaluated and in light of past behavior, they were closed.
