Worst day ever

So my new year hasn't exactly started out on the best foot...

Sunday I was at work, and when I got out I walked to my car. Someone had broken into my car, shattered the back window, and stolen a)my stereo, b) my leather coat (which was in a duffell back under my seat!!) and even went so far as to steal a cappucino machine from my trunk and a box of leftover AXO Crush t-shirts!! I was so upset... didn't file a report because my theft insurance only covers the theft of my car itself, not contents, and the cost of having the window replaced doesn't meet my deductible. So ew to that.

Monday I make an appointment to get the window replaced somewhere in NE DC. For those of you who don't know, this is a bad part of town... and I got lost. Five times. Gee, that's a great feeling.

Finally get the window replaced ($650!!) and go to work. We're really busy, and I come out of the kitchen with a big shoulder tray of hot soups. The other waiter doesn't see me standing behind the giant heavy mahogony kitchen door, slams it open, and hits me in the head, knocking me out. Went to the hospital (after I finished my shift... boss wouldn't let me go) and was diagnosed with a concussion. I went alone, cause no one from work could go with me, all my sisters were in chapter, and my boyfriend was out drinking. Roommate had to wake me up every hour last night to make sure I wasn't dead. Now it's Tuesday, I have a RAGING headache, and if one more bad thing happens today I will turn into a damn hermit.

Whew. sorry, just needed to vent my myraid frustrations. Thanks, y'all.

OH sweetie!! I am so sorry. Hang in there--things have to get brighter after all the hell you have been through. I had the SAME thing happen with my car--they DESTROYED my ignition and stole stuff from the car, but thats it. And the ignition only cost $450 to fix and my deductible was $500. But it took them FOREVER to fix my car and it just sucked. Let us know how you are feeling!!

Sorry all that happened to you! Least now hardly anything else could make any of your days worse, so they will all seem like better days.

Unhappy

Talk about the Day From Hell! I'm so sorry, hon! I hope you're feeling better very soon!

I know how it is to have your car broken into. Makes you feel so angry and helpless! I had 2 huge baskets of freshly cleaned laundry stolen from my boyfriend-at-the-time's car a couple of years ago, not too long after I'd graduated college. (We had taken my car to pick up a movie and were only gone about 30 minutes.) Included in the stolen items were several of my irreplaceable DZ shirts. I always swore that if I caught a stranger in my neighborhood wearing my shirt, I'd mow them down with my car and ask questions later!

Anyway, I hope the rest of this week is PERFECT for you!

You poor thing!!! I hope things are going more smoothly now!

Hello -- I think it's time to look for a new job. Is anyone else as bothered as I am that the boss wouldn't let someone with a concussion go to the hospital?! WTF is that?!!!

Poor girl! God, I know how that feels. I had my car broken into in the summer, and they didn't steal anything b/c there wasn't anything for them to steal. But, they went through everything and threw it all over my car, not cleaning a thing up. All they took was some change and a soda. For the love of god, was it worth all that?!? Anyways, they somehow got the lock open through the window frame, and last week it was really cold. So, needless to say, my window jumped the track and I had to pay $70 for a mechanic to take off my door panel, put the window back on track and put the door panel back on. Talk about pissed!

Keep your chin up girl. And whack that waiter who hit you back

Your boss is awful. When you have a head injury, you need to have a doctor check it as soon as possible. You should look into worker's compensation. And getting new job.
When things go badly for me, I always think at least the worst part is over and things can only get better from this point on.

you were knocked out and he wouldn't let you go!! I'm sorry you had to go by yourself. Doctors and hospitals are scary enough.

You should report that guy to the franchise manager, or whomever is his superior. If you were knocked unconscious, and he kept you working, not only did he jeopardize your safety and health, he left himself and the restaurant wide open for a worker's comp lawsuit. Like Cream said, look into worker's comp. You might be eligible.

My friend, who drives an 83 Corolla, had his car broken into. They were able to jimmy the door open. When they got into the car, they tried to take his stereo, but when it got to be too much trouble, they just left it hanging. Then, they took his cellphone (a cheapie prepaid phone, so no big loss) and locked the door back. They even figured out that you had to hold the handle a special way to get it to lock. Really, when you see a parking lot at an expensive apartment complex full of SUVs, Maximas, Camrys, even BMWs, why on earth do you go for the 1983 Corolla with the plaid interior and a rope serving as a backseat handle (hanging from the roof)?

Sorry to hear it Definitely report the guy - if you were knocked unconscious and he made you finish your shift anyway, he deserves a world of trouble.
