NME ideas.....
Hey everyone! I'm from California. I hope everyone had a great New Year!!!
I'm going to be NME this year. I really want to make this an awesome year! I want new ideas! Does anyone have anything fun that they do during the NM retreat or I-Weekend? What about meetings? Any ideas you guys have to offer would be great!
Alpha love

at my NM retreat we had a Kappa trivia pinata whack. Answer a Kappa question right, get a whack at a pinata. Lots of fun and you learn stuff too.

I am always a fan of the M and M game, where everyone picks some M and M's from a bag and each color is a question they have to answer(ie--Red is your favorite color, blue is your major, green is your family size, and so on). I think its a fun way to get to know each other without it being stressful. Hope that helps!!

We did a bunch of stuff but one night we had vespers. Everyone was told to bring something special to them and we all went around and said why it was special. There was a lot of crying cause so many people brought things that reminded them of lost family members and stuff like that... but it helped bring us closer together. We might not have known about these things otherwise... so it allowed us to understand eachother better and be more considerate of everyone's feelings.

Ok, kinda late on this thread, but we did the panda toss, wich is always emotional, and we also had everyone bring there favorite pajamas and we had a fashion show. We also cooked dinner together, which made us all realize we could work together as a team, considering we didnt burn the house down! Just a few ideas, I myself love the panda toss, cause it gives you a chance to get to know each other, and share that emotional time with each other.

So this might sound dumb....but what is the Panda Toss? Maybe we do something similar, but just call it something else.

I bet you do it, just call it something else, we would all sit in a circle and pass around 'freddy' our stuffed panda. who ever was 'tossed' the panda could talk about whatever she wanted. We usually did this at our retreat and we all had to say something about ourselves or when we had good/bad news. This way everyone got a turn to talk. I remember my very first one, because it was when I let my big sis realize how much I loved and that she was a wonderful big sis. Long story. But that is the Panda Pass. Anyone else have a version of this?

We call ours "candle passing". We do it I-weekend, and also at the NM retreat. Everyone sits in a circle and we pass a candle around. People are always crying, it last for hours! It is so amazing!!

We call that "rose inspiration" and we do it the night before you get initiated with just your pledge class and then with all the sisters at the first retreat. I loved that too!! My little sister wrote a letter for me at my last retreat telling me how much she loved me and how she didn't know how she would live without me at Elon and I SOBBED. It was a wonderful AOTT moment!

I just had another idea... At our NM retreat we played this game where everyone lined up into 2 parallel rows with space in the middle. The NME or President or someone would start saying things like "anyone who's engaged" and 2 sisters or NMs that were engaged would get up and run to the head of the row. First come first serve. I guess it doesn't really have an object to it, but we had a lot of laughs and you found out a lot about everyone. Especially when the off the wall questions started being asked...

Ooooooo--I forgot that one, Brandi!! We played one like that too called "I love my sisters who" and we would all stand in a circle and someone would say "I love my sisters who play sports for Elon" and all the sister who did would jump into the middle. It was really fun and yeah--some people totally would get called out!!! But always a good time!

Yea, we play "I love my sister who...." also! Its funny, because by the end girls are just saying things they know their friends will have to run out for. But its good to do when there are tense moments. It reminds us all that we can have fun too.
