Mom of New Tri-Delt at USC

Hi Everyone,

My daughter is now a happy pledge of Tri-Delt at USC.

I've been reading the posts with interest, because my college days were a LONG time ago!

I've known "Mama Pat" at the USC Tri Delta house for several years. She's great & your daughter will enjoy living in the house. Wonderful girls & beautiful house.

Congratulations to you and your daughter!

And it's a tiny thing, but important....

Tri Delta (preferred)

Tri Delt (much less preferred)

Tri-Delt (wrong)

OK, I knew that Tri Delta is preferred over Tri Delt, but what exactly is the significance of the hyphen that makes Tri-Delt wrong? I'm asking in all sincerity and curiosity.

It's just not supposed to be hyphenated. You would never see it hyphenated in any official documents or anything coming from the national organization.

I know it isn't the end of the world and most of the time I don't say anything when I see people do it, but sometimes I can't help myself in pointing it out.
