Question Ideas Founders Day events?

We are currently planning our 30th Anniversary Founder's Day, and I wanted to get some ideas/input for events or functions that other chapters may have used or had success with at their founders days.

Right now, our preliminary schedule is as follows:

Friday: 2 p.m. golf tournament
8 p.m. alumni reception
9 p.m. model initiation

Saturday: formal dinner/lunch banquet

In the past we have had great alumni participation in summer golf tournaments, but mediocre response to Homecoming.

Please let me know what everyone thinks and give me some IDEAS!!

Thanks!

It sounds like you've planned a nice weekend for both the collegiates and the alumni. I can't think of much right offhand to add except for this:

At the 20th anniversary of our chapter several years ago, one of our alumnae who lived in CA and knew some famous stars had her husband make a videotape of all these famous people saying "Happy Founders' Day, Lambda Pi", "Congratulations DZ!", etc. Then, they played the tape during our formal dinner that Saturday night as a surprise to the sisters. You should have heard all the comments when they hit the Play button and Burt Reynolds' face came on to personally tell us Happy Birthday!

Anyway, I got a little off track, but basically what I'm trying to suggest is that if any of your current actives or alumni have friends in high places, you might be able to come up with a creative presentation to show during your dinner. If nothing else, find old pictures of your chapter (candids, yearbook shots, composite pics, intramurals, etc.) and make a slide show showing the history of your chapter, ending with pictures of your chapter's activities this past year. Throw some good music behind it, and you'll have a great little dinner show.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes!! When is it scheduled, by the way?

Last May, my chapter also celebrated our 30th anniversary. We decided to have a family/alumnae day. We had a very informal picnic outside our house. Everyone brought a dish to share. It gave us a chance to meet alumna as well as each others' parents. Alumnae were also encouraged to bring their families. It turned out to be a great day.

Cool

pike4life! i would not try to put to much in one day! Hell you will wear us old guys out!

We have a small buffet at the house, do Ritual, and go to the 3-11 as most all of the Alums had had a few there!

we then do a dinner and dance that evening! One things the Actives did was have a slide show over the years showing slides from the beginning! God was that great and pretty damn funny as you could see the hair styles change! What a HOOT!!!!!!!!

While many of the Brothers changed very little, there were some that were unrecognizable! Man was there a lot of jibbing going on!

Hope turns out well for you!
PS, the Pikes are strong on Pitt St U Kansas campus!

Pike4Life - if your campus has undergone a lot of renovations since the attending alums graduated, be sure to include a campus tour. At our reunion, one of the women had not been to the campus for 25 YEARS and she was flabbergasted at some of the new improvements!
