Sigma Alpha Mu and Washington U – St. Louis: Chapter de-recognized and disbanded

Hi LaneSig, Kevin and others:

Sigma Alpha Mu and Washington U – St. Louis: Chapter de-recognized and disbanded.

I may be wrong, but isn't Washington in St. Louis one of those universities that lots of GLOs would give their eyeteeth or other body parts to have a successful chapter at?

http://www.studlife.com/news/campus-...mu-fraternity/

Excerpt from ^^:

“UPDATE: July 9, 9:54 AM:
Washington University is no longer recognizing its chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu. The University released an updated statement this morning detailing the decision:

Effective immediately, the Phi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity is not a recognized fraternity at Washington University in St. Louis. This decision is based upon significant violations of University policies, which came to light as part of an ongoing investigation by the Washington University Police Department. In addition, the National Fraternity of Sigma Alpha Mu has disbanded the chapter. The University will make no further comment on this ongoing investigation until it is complete and has been turned over to and reviewed by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. . . .”

At some point, you have to say "enough is enough." That chapter has been having trouble for some time. They were suspended in 1999, returned to campus in 2002, had a drug bust in 2003, and then had another drug bust and membership review in 2009. They lost their campus housing in 2009.
