I met two fabulous young women who were roommates and had rushed their freshman year at Fl. State. One did not receive a bid and the other did, but not accept the bid. Neither of them had any recs. During their freshman year they got involved on campus, made the Dean's list both semesters, did some volunteer work and secured recs. for all the chapters.
When they rushed their sophomore year, one girl got her first choice(which had also been her first choice freshman year) and the other her 2nd, which quickly became her first as she got to know her new sisters. The odds may be steep, but it can happen.

I wouldn't look to too many stories for comfort because it is really too personal. Can you have a happy ending this time? Absolutely. But all you'll likely get here is positive outcomes because the girls who had negative outcomes are likely not on this site.
Make sure you are fully prepared for rush and keep an open mind for all of the chapters at LSU. Make sure your sorority friends know you're going through rush so they're on the lookout for you, and understand that it can end better, the same, or worse as last time. And don't believe any sorority woman who says you are a shoo in to her sorority. It's not that she's lying, per se, she just doesn't have that much authority. And it's very easy after the fact to say she doesn't know what happened. The whole chapter loved you and it must have been a computer glitch, etc. etc. The fact is there are a LOT of girls going through rush, cuts have to happen, and one or two girls cannot necessarily affect the vote of the entire chapter.
But I wish you the best of luck and hope for a positive outcome this time.

There are people from your school on here and it will be pretty easy to identify you during recruitment. You need to back away from the keyboard and find some other way to calm your nerves before recruitment. You're starting to look like the kind of desperate PNM that no one will want, and that's without even considering your got-a-bid-but-now-re-rushing status.

I think she means that if you are posting too much here on GC it can be taken the wrong way. By all means read all over the site, but be really discrete about what you post. Otherwise membership discussions will go something like this:
Oh this has to be tigers2117 who obsessively posted questions on GC all spring and summer. We have enough other quality girls to choose from that we don't need to take a chance on some headcase who lives online and already quit on another chapter.
Now that may be totally inaccurate, but don't shoot yourself in the foot before you even get started.
I think that might be what Old Row was saying.

There's nothing wrong with wanting/looking for advice, just like there's nothing wrong with looking at a certain someone's facebook page or wearing your blue oxford shirt on Tuesday because they seem to always wear theirs on Tuesday too. What's bad is talking about it all over the internet.
There are LOTS of threads on here to read in the "recruitment stories" forum. Just read and don't post.

I read this in the morning but didnt have time to comment. Read it my daughter ( who is a memeber of a LSU sorority). She made a face and said Um No. Don't think it is the fact that you will be a sophomore because there are sophomores who are successful but the fact that you pledged a sorority and dropped it that will hurt you. Of course I don't know the reason you quit but I cn tell you the greek community is very tight and there is a very good chance that most other people know that you quit another sorority and why. Hate to be negative but that is the way it is.

This.
Of course, those of us who have been around the system long enough can see the big picture can take into consideration the many reasons why she quit her first sorority.
Can't say the same for all the 18-22 year old collegians conducting membership selection. They'll think what they want to think and unfortunately, the Greek ship may have already sailed for the OP.
I'm just surprised that that it took this long for someone to say it.

I notice that a lot of these freak-out/TMI posts come in the middle of the night, probably after having a bad day or drinking one too many. There should be some sort of stop-gap on computers for people who have the proclivity to put too much info online, like they do on people's cars to prevent drunk driving.
You must have a BAC of less than X.X to post here.

Or at least make the drunk posting thread your friend. Isn't there one of those here?
