Hey there!
I'm in a bit of an odd situation and am not sure how it will affect my chances at recruitment. I graduated high school in 2010, which would make me a freshman as far as grade level. However, I did a "Running Start" program and earned my Associate's Degree during my last two years of high school and transferred into the University of Washington this last Winter quarter, which makes me a Junior. Beginning next year I will be 5 credits away from senior status. However, I plan to attend the UW an additional year. (I would be a "super Senior"). Also, I am a year older than most of my classmates. I was pulled out of school for a year in eighth grade due to medical problems.
I'm not sure how this will affect my chances at recruitment next Fall. I know a few people in sororities and they have assured me that I would be fine, but I am still worried. I am academically capable. My transfer GPA is somewhat low; only a 3.5, but my UW GPA thus far is a 3.8 (taking all upper-level classes). I am not socially awkward and know how to charm and shmooze people. (And now I sound pretentious, but I'm just trying to give everyone a reasonable picture of my strengths.) If I were a freshman I wouldn't be worried about getting into at least one sorority. But my questionable class status worries me.
How will this affect me? I obviously haven't had a chance to rush yet, but I still have that Junior (almost Senior) class status hanging over my head.
