What About Your Friends?

What do you look for in a friend? What has to happen before you call someone your friend? I.E. experiences together? length of interaction?

For me TRUST. Someone I can tell anything to and not worry about the whole world knowing. I have not found that person yet who is able to do this.

when i consider calling someone friend i look for length of time we've known each other, what kind of reactions i get from you when in various situations, and how well are personalities work together.

Someone who is trustworty, discreet, honest, understanding, a good listener, someone who will not criticize your every decision, but will understand why you made that decision, someone who is smart enough to realize that what advice you give is always for a good reason, someone who will not envy you when you're happy in a certain stage in your life, yet if they do envy you, they should be able to tell you face to face and not be knocked for being honest about how they feel.

geez! Why in the world is it so hard to find a good friend?! I am so grateful to have 2, but the most of the people I've been around during my college career, no matter how long I've been around them, seem to trick out on me...After a while, your real friends shine through...you can go through a lot, but sometimes jealousy, envy or other things can cloud judgement and cause people to turn on one another.

real friends survive all!

someone who will be there for me thru thick and thin. Someone who I can truly trust, and will look out for me in times of need.

I had an experience over the summer where I had to go to the doctor for something really serious, and my doc advised me not to drive, but to have someone drive me...my so called friends that lived the closest to me were too 'busy' to help me out...but a good friend of mine that lives 45 MILES away from me (and doesn't know the area I live in well) got up and drove to pick me up, and sat with me, and then took me home. This is also the same person that worried about me when I was going on vacation by myself...among other things. To me, that is true friendship.

Like my mom always told me, when ish hits the fan, that's when you'll see who your real friends are!
