American Tragedy

While we have been out of touch for the past few days, none of you have been out of my mind. I pray that all of you are safe and sound.

I know that this tragedy touched all of us in some way. Our world is getting ready to go through a change like any other but we must remember that God is still in charge and He holds our future in his hands.

To all of our DC and NYC Sorors, Sisterfriends, Brotherfriends as well as ANYONE who has family or friends missing or fatally wounded, my heart goes out to you. I pray God's peace in your situation.

My thoughts & prayers also go out to those with friends & family of the missing, injured & deceased, but they also go out to those in the trenches of the rescue effort. I pray for continued strength for the police people, EMTs, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and the Red Cross Volunteers.

For those of you wondering, MaMaBuddha is fine. She is among those volunteering with the relief effort.

If you haven't already, please donate blood, food, money and/or TIME to your Red Cross chapter or ANY organization helping with the relief & recovery efforts in NY & DC.

I too also thought of the many members on GC that are from NY and DC. My cousin who works in the WTC was late for work that day, and was getting off the subway when this happened. I have never thanked GOD so much in my life. I have a friend/co-worker whose husband worked on the 90th floor of one of the towers and he has not been heard from. They have 2 small children ages 2 and 5, please keep them in your prayers as well as anyone else that has been affected personally by this great tragedy.

I normally post in the Alpha Kappa Alpha forum and have written something about the tragedy. I know that there are NY and DC area sisterfriends. I pray that you and your family/friends are in good health. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Peace and Blessings.

I too was shocked and angry about the recent attack on American soil. I NEVER thought that I would see the day that something like this would happen IN AMERICA. It's really scary because the third bombing (of the Petagon in Arlington, VA) was in the state of Virginia). I live here in Richmond. I feel soooo sorry for any and everyone who was DIRECTLY effected by this event.

I will say that given all that other countries/nations go through, I'm extremely PROUD to be an AMERICAN. I've yet to figure out the THOUGHT process of these terrorists. Their purpose is to fight and/or DIE for the cause. Yet I see that they cease to realize that if one is DEAD, there is no way to help see the cause through. I'm totally lost about that concept.

I know that Americans are saddened and angry. I'll be the FIRST to admit that my feelings reflect this also. But...like my Bishop said on yesterday, we need to remember who we must turn to at this time. JESUS is the saving name. I pray that those who perished were able to "get things straight" with God before their lives were taken.

GOD HAVE MERCY ON ALL OF US AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!

many thanks to those that have volunteered in every way possible to help in this tradegy. i have never seen so many people of different races and cultures work together to help those firemen, police officers, ems workers, construction workers.

there is a need for bottled water, boots, masks and gloves. bring them to you local red cross center and they will make sure they are shipped to new york's ground center.

i also ask that you keep the victims family and friends in you prayers.

please fly your american flags in honor of your country. if you have the time...talk to your police officers, firemen, ems workers, nurses, doctors and thanks them for the wonderful work they do.

I hope everyone is safe and all of your loved ones. I had a few friends that were missing but thank God we have located them. Please continue to pray for those that have not been as blessed as those of us. Continue to have faith in GOD and our country!

I received both of the following today from a listserve that I belong to.

I will preface it with this is not an attempt at humor but to show you a very well kept "secret".

1. open up MICROSOFT WORD or some other word processor program.
2. type in Q33NY (the flight number of one of the planes that crashed into the twin towers)
3. put them in font size 26
4. change the font itself to "wingdings"

see it?

1. Open a new Word document.
2. Type NYC in caps and highlight.
3. Change font size to 72.
4. Change font to Webdings.
(What you see is, "I Love New York")
5. Now change font to Wingdings
(You won't believe what you see)

Whoever made this stuff up has way too much time on their hands. The planes that crashed into the WTC Twin Towers were American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175. So where does flight number Q33NY come in? Hell if I know! Please pass the word.

Okay not the FLIGHT NUMBER but the serial number on the airplane.

I received it in a forward and a number of my co-workers did as well.

I received the same email yesterday and I really do not believe it has any validity (other than the fact that you can see some eery stuff in MS Word). My question is how do we even know that Q33NY was a serial number on one of the planes?

I do not recall that ever being reported. I am just skeptical about believing everything I read, esp. when it comes in the form of an anonymous email.

First my point in passing along this "Anonymous" e-mail was to show just how eerie it was. I don't know the validity of the serial number on the plane. I was simply passing it along because I found it interesting.

Since last week, I and I am sure a lot of others, have received the Nostradamus e-mail as well as all of the other numerology related e-mails rthat show the relationships between the date 9/11/01 and the flight numbers of the planes involved. While I may not "believe" in the numerology and Nostradamus legends, I do find it interesting. I have simply read it without making a big deal out of the validity or purpose.

I understand your point, but there's no need to explain. I am not questioning you personally. I just do not want anyone to be misinformed or to be pondering some nonsense in the wake of a serious tragedy. That's all.
