Arrow PlymouthDZ's Recruitment Thread

So, wish all the threads popping up during this exciting time of recruitment.. I thought it might be fun to go through recruitment.. but from the other side of the process!

I am the Vice President of Recruitment/Memebership for my chapter. This is my second semester at VPR/M. I went through Informal/COB the fall of my soph. year, 2002.

I got to a fairly small school (about 4,000 undergrads) and Delta Zeta is the only Panhel GLO on campus. We have 2 other GLOs on campus participating in Recruitment also (COB/Informal for all of us).

I'll keep you posted, as best I can about the other 2 organizations... We'll call them Korea and Iceland.

Bid Day is October 16th. (Knowing that, this thread is going to be an on-going deal.. for a month or so.)

My chapter is at 21 active sisters currently. As of yesterday, we had between 25-35 PNMs scheduled to be at our first open house, which is tomorrow night.

I'll keep you all updated!!

Wow......

We have about 2500 undergrads and we have 5 sororities (4 are in the 70-85 range) and 4 fraternities. I always think UPS is an anti greek school until I realize exactly what % of students are greek........

But good luck!!!

We used to be a bigger Greek School.. but last fall, we had a hazing death. Hence why we're so small, and admin. is so anti-greek now.

First Open house!

Tonight was our first open house. We had about 20 girls who came.

As we waited for everyone to arrive we had some snacks (I made HOMEMADE brownies!!!) and chatted.

As soon as everyone arrived, we went around the room and just introduced ourselves.. then we broke up into 2 groups and went to 2 appartments (Our "house" is a cluster of apartments with a chapter/meeting room inbetween) and did 2 quick and cheesy, but fun, ice breakers.

Then, we paired off, and got to know the girls even more. We talked about what they were looking for, how they owuld describe themselves, what they were involved in in high school and basic info like that.

After about 20 minutes, we switched sisters and started that process again. After the next 20 minutes, we reconviened in one apartment and talked about bids, DZ's hazing policies, and what OUR hopes were for these women.

After, we invited the women to hang out and watch the season opener of the PATRIOTS (GOPATS!) The women are still watching the game.. (but I had to leave since I have homework and I'm leaving for Philly tomorrow.. I still have to pack!!)

Overall, the entire night went very, very, very well. I feel great about these girls and I feel even better about tonight's open house.

Our next open house is next Wednesday.. Stay tuned..

Open House #2

Lastnight was out second Open House.

We had approximately 15 girls come. We had a game night. Most of the PNMs and Sisters just hung out, talked and ate snacks. All in all though, it went really well. There were some GREAT conversations going on and lots of PNMs asking questions, not just about Delta Zeta but also about the sister they were talking to.

All of my sisters feel as if they got to know most of the girls REALLY well, and they feel as if last night went really well.

Next week, we have another Open House on Wednesday, and then a BBQ Thursday evening, so we're going to invite the girls to join us!
