I've been watching on & off all day. Lots of tears for me, too. Poor Nancy looks so frail, almost transparent. I wonder how much longer she will be with us.

As for Margaret Thatcher, I admit that I was uncomfortable with her speech. I thought it was rather harsh to keep bringing up the "evil empire" and other provocative phrases, knowing that Gorbachov would be there.

I believe it is Reagan's greatest legacy that, under his watch, the Cold War between us ended.

Let the Cold War animosities get behind us, as well.... not forgotten, but maybe not thrown in Gorbachov's face.

Loved that fabulous hat on her, though

I was at work watching the ceremony in Simi Valley and I started to cry when Michael Reagan was speaking about his father and how Reagan never made a big deal or really ever mentioned that fact that Michael was adopted, Michael said something to the effect of like I was adopted, but I was always just HIS SON. That touched me as a parent , because I have known parents that mention constantly that their child is adopted, so its nice to hear about a parent that doesn't mention it , but has told his child that he was adopted.

Sorry if the post doesn't make sense.

It was just wonderful to hear his children speak about not just their father as a former President, but just as THEIR father , it gave me a newe insight into the man not just the politician. I cried so much at work today

One more thing. I heard on the news today that Las Vegas DIMMED the LIGHTS on the Strip today out of RESPECT for President Reagan. Apparently that has only happened 6 times since Las Vegas has been Las Vegas.

What a WONDERFUL TRIBUTE.

In 1963, on the day of the funeral for John F. Kennedy, Las Vegas casinos also closed their doors for the day. The lights were also dimmed in memory of the victims of 9/11.

Since then, the lights of the Strip have been dimmed six times (seven if you include President Reagan) as a gesture of respect, to include Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra

Cool piece of history...I didn't know Vegas did that.
