Thanks everybody! You guys have seriously been so supportive, and I am so thankful. My parents have tried to help, but they haven't been through this, so having some people with experience to back me up has been great! I'm not sure what time I will post tonight, since I get done early. I'm not sure if I can fill out my pref card right away, or if I have to wait till the end of the 2nd party. I plan on discussing my options with my PX, but more than likely I will list A Phi first and then sign. I think I would rather be in their house than not be greek at all. Also, I don't really want to do COB, because I think I was cut heavily since I'm older, and I don't think my chances will get any better with time. I'm not sure how often snap bidding is done here, as some of the houses have had 9 new members in a group, and gained 14 or more through COB. Anyway, I'll post as soon as I can, after I'm done, and give my parents the low down. Thanks for everything!

amandamarie...
I've been following your thread and I must wish you GOOD LUCK tonight. Alpha Phi has a wonderful sisterhood and is a terrific, forward-thinking organization.
Follow your heart, it will lead you where you belong!

This might be taken as a slightly biased opinion , but give Alpha Phi a try. Go back to their pref and if you really don't feel a connection there, then by all means, don't sign -- but try to have an open mind and an open heart.
Best of luck to you!

I'm so sorry that you were so heavily cut.
Alpha Phi is a great org. Enjoy pref, and follow your heart!

Oh yeah, I wasn't going to list only A Phi. I'm definitely going to fill my card, because I really feel I could be happy at any chapter. The order I list them in depends on tonight though. I'm going to go over all my options and chances with my PX before I sign. My post may be late because of this, but I will let everyone know what happens ASAP!

Amandamarie, your positive attitude shines through in your posts. I am so glad that you are going to Alpha Phi for their pref ceremony. During preference, be sure to look around the room at the sisters as well as your fellow PNMs - you may be looking at your new home!

Did someone call for a greenbook expert?
Yes, you can get a bid from a chapter who did not invite you to preference parties.
While there is a limit to the number of pref invites a chapter can extend, there is no limit on the number of women a chapter can have on its bid list (unless specified by the local Panhellenic).
You should also talk to your Rho Chi and arrange in advance to fill out your card after the first pref, if possible. It will be easier on you.

amandamarie,
I know you're already going through Pref, but i wanted to add my support! I'll admit that all through rush week, I was torn and I liked one group a lot. I was cut from that group right before pref and I was heartbroken. I ended up preffing Alpha Phi (which was my third choice overall). After pref, I knew Alpha Phi was my home. The ceremony moved me so much that there was no doubt in my mind I where I wanted to be. I do believe that everything happens for a reason and I couldn't be happier with my decision! As a matter of fact, two years after graduation, I'm still involved with my chapter as an advisor!
Know that whatever happens, you have a huge support system here on Greek Chat. We're all pulling for you!!!! Follow your heart!

Ok everyone, update time! I just got back from pref, and I must say it went awesomely! I talked to a girl from the first day, who I got along with really well. The ceremony was really beautiful, and the testimonials almost made me cry! They even had pieces of cake with our names on them! I really feel like I was given a second chance, that I cut the wrong house the first time. I completely filled out my pref card, just in case, with A Phi #1! Also, a girl I really like from my PX group only got invited to A Phi too. I looked around the room, and recognized other PNMs that I would be thrilled to have as my pledge sisters. I hope tomorrow goes well, cause I'm excited!
