2. The ACLU has brought in 100-150 volunteer attorneys.

3. The activist groups have been planning and practicing for the announcement. They have issued lists of sites in St. Louis that will be targets for protests.

4 . Illinois State Police and Missouri State Police have created plans to handle the protests.

5. Local churches are being set up as shelters and sanctuaries.

6. St. Louis University has issued guidelines for students who plan on participating in the protests.

7. Sales at local gun shops have tripled in the last month or so.

I sincerely hope this stays peaceful, but I doubt it. It's going to be a shitstorm.
They have also cancelled schools for Monday and Tuesday next week.

Do you think, even assuming for the sake of argument that he was completely justified in the shooting, tha the'd be safe policing that town if no true bill happens?

1. That issue has been raised and suggested by the various groups.

2. Tearing up "white folks neighborhoods" might feel emotionally satisfying to you, but it's not going to get the movement anywhere. There's a lot of sympathy locally, even from traditionally conservative folks, towards the idea that Ferguson and working class black neighborhoods are over-policed and over-charged and over-fined in St. Louis. I think there is probably broad agreement that this is true. I think that there is agreement that something should be done to change that. I think that if the protest movement focuses on that issue, change is achievable here. If there is rioting, especially rioting that targets "white neighborhoods" that support is going to turn around and go the other way.

1. That's not how grand juries work.
2. "Tearing up" the neighborhoods of people not directly has no purpose other than to injure, frighten, and possibly cause death to innocent people. What possible benefit in your twisted mind could come from that?
3. You're stupid .
4. Wilsons career in the St. Louis region is done regardless of outcome but he's right in the sense that resigning before the GJ announcement would be seen as an admission of wrongdoings.

I saw this article today but haven't heard anything about it in the MSM. Anyone know if it's legit or not? Regardless, people would be best to stay home if this kind of stuff is in the works.

I think I've recommended him before but follow Alderman French on Twitter; when he starts tweeting about what's going on up there daily and nightly, that's when to pay attention:

https://twitter.com/AntonioFrench

ETA: And yes, things are tense up there this evening.

ETA2: And they just arrested a journalist from News2Share.

Almost every disenfranchised group throughout history that has rioted has done so in their own environment. Nothing new there.

It takes power in the form of audacity and fearlessness to ruin others' environments.

I don't want any more rioting. Been there, done that. I want people to take that anger and energy into lasting and legal social changes. I consider it silly to plan and look forward to a riot.

As for the officer resigning, I think that's wise. He will never be able to overcome this even if this Black man died in a legal yet unfortunate manner. This officer and fellow officers will struggle even more from this point on. Resigning can reduce some of that struggle.

Haven't the prosecutors been promising to make the transcripts available to the public? If there's no true bill, that should be interesting.

McCullough said that the judge said that she would release everything. On Sunday, the judge said "We'll see."

No indictment. Let's hope the collateral damage is at a minimum and no one gets hurt.

I have a friend who is with the St Louis Police. They were notified of the decision earlier in the afternoon so they can prepare for the riots.

Both your friend and you are blabber mouths.

This isn't one of those things that should be leaked to the media or on a message board (I'm sure your friend didn't expect you to do that). Time is being dedicated to prepare for the public's response to this decision. That shouldn't be undermined because people can't keep their mouths shut.

Funny you say that since I found out via social media. I doubt you follow FoP groups but many have made announcements so far about this.
