I like that theory. When Whitmore asked if Ben was there to kill him, Ben replied with "you know very well that I can't do that" or something along those lines. I think you're on to something!

I thought it was an implication that Widmore had been on the island previously and that only the island can decide if/when he'll die. Like Michael and his suicide attempts in New York.

excellent episode tonight i thought!!! Tonights flashback was after the trial, and after Jack saw hurley for the first time/ Hurley saw Charlie, but before angsty bearded jack. Im thinking the island is trying to keep everyone on the island, hence kidnapping Claire.

I just saw the episode for the second time ( my sister was watching and I couldn't help but watch it again!) I thought that her face did look a little fatter? Maybe Jacob had food stashed in the cabin?

OMG!!!!!!!! I can't wait until January!!!! I think I have to watch it again to even soak it all in. By far the best episode yet, I teared up at times!
