I used to jokingly tease my Baltimore native friends about the way the say "hooome" and phooone." My friends say that my New Jersey/New York accent comes out randomly. I personally love when guys have New York and Boston accents!

Question Maybe this has something to do with accents...?

Just wondering.. I went to visit Missouri earlier in the summer, and honestly felt like a dork because I was the only one there (or so it seemed) that pronounced the name "Missouri" like Mis-sour-i, with an E sound at the end. I was taught that was how to say it?

However, when I actually went to go visit the lovely state, everyone else seemed to pronouce it Mis-sour-a with an A sound in the end

Is that a Missourian thing?

Yes, hon, that's a Missouri thing. Like I posted above, I still say Mi-zerr-uh, but it's almost an ih sound, like in "fish." The best description would be the neutral vowel in French. But that's getting a little technical. Best figure is that it's their secret code to tell who's from Missour-ah and who's just visiting.

I'm from Sounthern Wisconsin, and We have accents! Little ones. I spend a lot of time in northern CA and I've always thought they round out their o's, almost in an English way.

People think that I am from the Midwest because I don't sound like Amy Fisher or Joey Buttafuoco or Linda Richman. Talk among yourselves. I'll give you a topic...

I dont have too bad of a Texas accent. In fact I barely have one at all. But sometimes I catch myself overusing "ya'll" that my cousins from other states like to make fun of me for. I've heard people like the good ole' Texas accent at least i know the guys do.

I don't have an accent, but I wish I did, though.
