What's with the LLL paddles?

Those were really popular for awhile. I have an ASA one handed down to me. It's in my ASA box (somewhere).

Why do the AOII's have what appears to be tri-delt paddles?

IMHO they appear to be "Lambda Lambda Lambda" paddles, which would make a great deal of sense in 1987.

It's called a boda (I have no idea if that is how it is spelled.) It is a leather/suede drinking pouch that hunters use. All of the fraternities and sororities used them for their barn dances. You would fill them with "Diet Coke" and give one to your date and keep one for yourself.

And yes, the paddles are Tri-Lambdas as in Revenge of the Nerds.

I think that's right. They were the favors for my first house party as a pledge in the fall of 1997.

I knew they were used by hunters/campers- outdoor sportsmen type, - but I had never seen them toted by sorority girls before. My dad definitely had one he used for camping (and he doesn't drink alcohol) so it just seemed really out of place to me.

I love how there's all kinds of random crap in that photo...the scooter, trophy, paddles, flags, street sign. That's the kind of stuff my chapter did.

This description had me rolling. My mom used to complain when I went through my blue eye shadow phase. She said it reminded her too much of the 80's lol.

At U of I, we have barndances, and those are the favors for a lot of chapters.

And yes, a barndance is EXACTLY what it sounds like.

Got that right, SEC Mom. When I went through in the late 70's, we all still had long hair pulled back in barrettes. Usually Goody Brand. And our hair was parted down the middle and curled with hot rollers.

I was social chair for my chapter - those were quite popular. That's all I am gonna say. Except being Social Chair had it's priveledges!

They liked getting those - but I think the fav dance that I started back in 82 and they still use today is a barn dance call "Cow-Pi". We gave out cowboy hats then. This was just after Urban Cowboy.

Sorry for the hijack on favors!
