Thank you for all the support. I can't tell you how much the kind words and thoughtful gestures you've all shown me has improved my spirits.
Some crazy things have been happening lately and I've decided to just lay low for awhile. However, I did notify the Panhellenic advisor and one of my Gamma Chi's that I am interested in COB or winter informal, whichever comes first.
I still have a great amount of respect for the greek system at my school, even if in the end it failed to match me anywhere. I think my biggest mistake throughout rush was, as someone pointed out, relying too heavily on my accomplishments and not enough on my personality. I suppose it was something to fall back on due to my slight shyness, I know I know... me, shy? pft! But it's true. I can be!
I'll mingle throughout the next term, keep myself occupied with homecoming duties, meet lots of new people, keep up the bamf grades and things will be ok. I'm already involved in everything I want to be involved with at school, the only thing missing was greek life. Hopefully that will come in due time.

sometimes it is the choices one makes. you feel most comfortable at abc, def and ghi, but receive invitations to three others. the same thing can happen during pref. you go to three prefs, place abc first, def second and ghi third, but ghi had you on their first bid list, and you were not on abc or def's first bid list. by the luck of the draw you end up unmatched.
it's not that you did anything wrong. its just the way things worked out. it sounds like you have a plan of action and are going on with you life-as you should! have a good semester, meet members of the sororities and maybe practice having conversations with folks you don't know. best wishes to you!!

Just keep your head high and know that you are worth it and you are good enough and formal recruitment is a tough, stressful process and that if COR is available go for it. COR is so much more informal.

I was browsing through the stories since I had missed so much, and ASUADPi has an excellent excellent point. Recruitment is so difficult for the PNM's but also for the sisters, and we definitely got our hearts broken by some girls that chose not to come back or sign our bids, especially seeing them new member another org and see them change, it hurts. At my school, we called COR, COB and we almost always got the majority of the sisters through this, because the PNM's were able to get to know us, which is so important.

ZTA calls COB, CROWN (Continuously Recruiting Outstanding Women Now) and we always picked up several girls through this right after formal recruitment. And since my chapter was fairly small, CROWN was always part of our recruitment budget and we looked forward to the events, as they were a lot less stressful and it was easy to get quality women since we got to know them better before extending bids.

I literally just finished COB (got bids yesterday) and absolutely loved it. I got to sit down and spend some quality time with the girls and get a good sense of what the house was really about without being too stressed. Definitely look into it! Good luck!

Well, insomnia has the best of me as usual and I thought I'd spring a few updates on you kiddos.
I'm over the rejection, got over it pretty quick actually. THere's no way of knowing why God didn't see it fit for me to join a GLO when I wanted to.
After rush, many of my friends in house have approached me with big hugs and teary eyes. Apparently, the release figures were still from last year and not adjusted to accomadate the higher amount of girls going through this year. There was also no usage of quota ranges or snap bids. This was the most competitive rush our campus has seen in awhile- go figure! Which, of course, means no one will be holding COB events. However, on a brighter note, this is bringing attention that maybe totals need to be raised and a 5th group invited. Our campus has more then double the amount of IFC chapters (vs NPC), which is a pretty unfair balance if you ask me! Also on a bright note- a good portion of the upperclassmen got bids! Including a senior!
Most of you might be disappointed to find out that I was told why I was cut from 2 of the 4 houses. The reasons make sense to me and I am already taking the steps to dismiss the fears of the few who voted no against me. Ah, the disadvantages to already being on campus for a year! Anyway, it seems to be working. I had one girl approach me and say "Soliloquy, I feel so stupid for not voting you in. You're the SH*T!!!!" hahaha. Granted, she was pretty drunk- but you know what alcohol does to people... makes them tell the truth.
I'm keeping myself busy with the activities I was already in prior to rush. I have some big commitments coming up that will be a lot of fun! I'm also making sure to keep my grades high.
No word on winter informal yet, but in order for it to happen, all 4 sororities must agree to it. As of now no one is opposing it, especially due to the turn out they had for formal. I will do it if they have it! If not, I'll probably just have to endure another round of formal.. ugh. haha.
Thank you all again for your support! <3

are you sure there is no COB? if the formal rush numbers were low (in terms of quota that each chapter could take) it's MORE likely that the chapters will be holding COB. When I rushed, back in the day, i got a bid through formal, there were 12 of us. The next week was COB and my pledge class ended up being close to 30.....just saying!
In addition, after having been through rush on the other side many times, the girls WANT you to go through COB. sometimes, like others have said here, things are beyond their control.
Basically, don't give up hope

I'm glad to see your perspective continues to be great. You are a very mature woman...they'd be lucky to have you if they'd just give you a chance!! Hopefully there will be some reforms at your campuse. It sounds like a lot of qualified young women went without a bid, which is ridiculous. Quota additions are a good thing. Good luck with the rest of the year.

Longtime, no talk. Glad things are shining upward for you.
Well....here is my two cents.
Those that are telling you why you were cut, shouldn't be doing so. Even if it was for little things. I would be somewhat happy that they are not your sisters, and even though they can blame outbursts on alcohol, there are some things that shouldn't be said.
I'm off my soapbox!
Just take things as they come. Join one of the service organiztions on your campus. You might find that you will get a lot of satisfaction out of that

I'm positive that, as of now, there will be no COB events. Everyone is at total and everyone met quota.
I knew there would be at least one person upset to find out that I was told the reasons behind my cut. However, they were revealed unprovoked and the reasons arent malicious in anyway. They're honestly kind of funny. I was pretty shocked that they told me, but when it comes down to it they were just concerned for me and they really want me to be part of a sisterhood, even if it isn't their's. They didn't tell me who voted no, they didn't tell me specifics, just generalizations that I can use as a basis to improve on for next time.
As for the girl who approached me, she did pulled me away from the group to say that so that no one else could hear it. On a more sober day, she told me that maybe next time I should try ___________ so people could love me as much as she's grown to.
While some rules may have been bent after my recruitment, I'm thankful my friends have enough faith in me to do so. These girls have been there for me through thick and thin, and just because they're trying to make sure I have success next time doesn't mean their GLOs should be discounted.
I guess its just something you'd have to hear about in details, not through my vagueness, to understand that they were just trying to be helpful while still maintaining decorum. But of course you all know I can't betray their trust moreso then I might already have.
I will know within the next 2 months or so if they are going to informal!

Nobody is discounting your friends or their groups. If someone says something like "You know, if you plan to re-rush, you should really try to avoid fraternity parties for the couple of weeks leading up to it," that is probably constructive advice.

Guess what guys?
I was approached by several girls the past few days and told about....
winter informal!! That's right!! Our campus panhellenic and sororities have decided to hold it this year. I was pretty stoked to hear about it. Also pretty stoked about the support I have been getting from everyone, as well as the encouragement.
Maybe I'll have a happy ending after all.... in January! *crosses fingers*
