According to court documents, Nick Lachey is suing Jessica Simpson because she ended their marriage three months before their contractual agreement to stay together ended. Nick's attorney wrote, "“Mr. Lachey signed over to Ms. Simpson all royalties from ’98 Degrees’ songs, his appearance on an MTV reality show to promote her albums and perfume line, and his soul in exchange for 41 months of marriage that would keep him in the public spotlight. The couple has been married only 38 months and Ms. Simpson is in violation of the contract, ending the union early.” In a written response, Jessica's lawyers argued that Nick will continue to receive publicity until the divorce is finalized, and that process will take several months. Therefore, Jessica IS fulfilling her contractural obligations.

For about a month now, Nick's been spotted all over LA with a mystery brunette, and now we've learned she is former Miss Kentucky USA Lizzie Arnold. The two of them reportedly have no problem with public displays of affection.

Nick Lachey Files for Spousal Support

February 17, 2006

ET has learned that NICK LACHEY has filed papers in L.A. Superior Court Friday requesting spousal support from JESSICA SIMPSON in response to her divorce petition. Property assets and obligations have not been established yet in the proceedings.

Jessica filed for divorce from Nick in mid-December, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. In her papers, Jessica is seeking to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support to Nick, and wants to restore her name back to "Jessica Simpson" from her legal married name of Jessica Simpson Lachey.

I LOVE that Nick is taking her to the bank. While I like Jessica, I just think she's just spun out of control! She is just not that girl that we all fell in love with anymore, and considering that she was only famous because of THEIR show, it's only fair

I read the other day in a magazine that Jessica was seeing some singer. The paparazzi caught a picture of her the night before hanging out with him and then the next morning leaving his house (mind you wearing the same clothes).

She's divorced, she's allowed. Also, Adam Levine is damn gorgeous.
