LOL. I didn't post it because I thought I was the only one who didn't know what it meant . Librasoul just kind of threw it out there like it was part of her everyday vocabulary, so I thought everyone must be using "atavistic". LMAO.

LOL I thought I was riding the slow bus with that word so I just shut my mouth, grabbed the dictionary, and played like that word was a part of my everyday vocabulary.
Glad to know I was not alone in not knowing what in the world that word meant lol.

LOL!
Well it is kinda a part of my everday vocabulary. I am a crim major and the very first theory of crime was developed by Cesare Lombroso. He said that crime was biological and criminals were inherently atavistic (or geneic throwbacks). There are like all kinds of physical features that Lombroso said indicated atavism and guess what! They are typically characteristics of minorities! Yay! lol.
Okay whoa. Sorry for taking this thread way off topic, lol.

Multiple Grammy-nominated Neo-soul songstress Jill Scott keeps keeping on with her appearance on the opening of the third season of HBO’s hit show “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry,” which will premiere this Friday on the premium cable channel. According to Ms. Scott’s publicist, Karen Taylor, she’s currently working on a book of short stories and poetry for release this winter…

Celeb News
Let’s Do It Again: Sources tell me that the original ‘funky divas’ are ready to try it again. That’s right, the four original members of En Vogue are attempting to try their hand at reuniting and recording a new album. Apparently, Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones have already committed to a reunion, but they are still waiting on Dawn Robinson to decide. Said a source: “Two failed attempts away from the group, she has nothing to loose by coming back.” The group currently does not have a record deal.
Ellis, Herron, and newcomer Amanda Cole had been performing under the name En Vogue for the last year and a half. That trio even recorded a Christmas album, “Gift Of Christmas,” that didn’t sell very well, despite appearance on shows like “Regis & Kelly.” Robinson recorded with Lucy Pearl before being booted from that group, and then went on to record a solo album titled “Dawn,” but had a falling out with her boutique record label Q Records and the album fizzled. Jones stopped singing altogether and focused on her private business in California.
It will be very interesting to see if the four singers can work past their differences and record together again. I’ll keep you posted on how this progresses.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Comings & Goings: Motown Records has signed soul singer Donnie. The Atlanta-bred artist is currently signed to Giant Step Records, and through a joint venture with Motown, the singer will continue to promote his debut set, “Colored Section.” The first single from the album, “Cloud 9,” is already receiving moderate airplay from Urban Adult Contemporary stations across the country.
Speaking of Motown, the label has apparently dropped BeBe Winans. “He is no longer on the label,” admitted a Motown rep. Winans released two albums – “Love & Freedom” and “Live & Up Close” -- and a DVD, “BeBe Live And Up Close (2002),” on the label. Winans is also no longer managed by Brandy’s mom Sonja Norwood. The singer’s “Live & Up Close” album earned him a Grammy nomination, and the he attended multiple Grammy festivities with his good friend and date, Oprah Winfrey.
Another former Motown artist, Sharissa, is readying her upcoming set. The singer will release her next CD on Henchmen Entertainment, owned by her manager Jimmy Henchmen, and hopes to nab a distribution deal after generating a buzz with the album.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Family Soul: The family that sings together, makes great music together! That was inevitable watching husband and wife duo Kindred ~ The Family Soul during their performance at The Saint in Washington, DC, last Thursday night. The Hidden Beach recording artists were celebrating the release of their debut disc, “Surrender To Love.” Backed by a full band and singers, Kindred’s Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon, showcased numerous tracks from their new release, in addition to some classic R&B numbers. The packed house was very receptive to the new group, especially when they performed their first single “Far Away.” If you can catch a performance from Kindred in a city near you, be certain to check them out. Their album is in stores now!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can’t Say Names: What Bohemian looking singer, who was once a pop superstar, is rumored to be pregnant with baby number four? This artist’s career has basically gone from superstardom to super-stupid. She hasn’t had a hit since her multiple Grammy-winning debut disc and the rumors surrounding her personal life would make a perfect storyline for a daytime soap opera. * LAURYN HILL
Speaking of Bohemian-looking singers, an afro-sporting independent soul artist, known best for her work in the background, apparently does not pay her bills. Said singer’s career never really took off because her headwrap-sporting friend/employer supposedly blocked many opportunities, in addition to the shady business practices of her boyfriend/manager. In addition to not paying her debts, the stalled star is apparently revealing secrets of those she once worked with, and is still trying to get her big break.
WHO IS THIS?!!?!?!?
Eddie Murphy's New Movie!!
http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/d.../synopsis.html
The dads are in charge. And the kids are all right.
Charlie (Eddie Murphy) and Phil (Jeff Garlin) are so consumed by their high profile advertising jobs that they are completely missing out on the joys of fatherhood. In the wonderful new family comedy Daddy Day Care, however, their kids provide them with a crash course in child rearing, with uproarious and heartwarming results.
After failing to excite the public about vegetable cereal, Charlie and Phil are fired from their ad jobs. That means no more expensive day care for their sons at the exclusive Chapman Academy, run by the harsh taskmistress Miss Gwyneth Harridan (Anjelica Huston).
While floundering aimlessly in search of employment and tending to his four-year-old son Ben (Khamani Griffin) during the day while his wife Kim (Regina King) is at work, Charlie has an idea. If he and Phil can handle taking care of two kids, how much harder can it be to supervise ten?
Much harder than they ever imagined. Every kid is different and every one is a hilarious challenge, whether they're suffering from sugar rush, fantasizing about being super heroes, or just demolishing everything in sight, Charlie and Phil soon realize they are in over their heads. Way over their heads.
But slowly they get the hang of it and their new venture "Daddy Day Care" thrives, siphoning kids away from the stuffy Chapman school. As the number of kids increases, they bring in a third caretaker, Marvin (Steve Zahn), who seems to speak the children's language, probably because he's just an overgrown kid himself. They teach the kids how to read, play games, interact, and have fun at the same time.
Charlie and Phil gradually bond with their sons, coming to fully appreciate the priceless joys of fatherhood.
However, the better "Daddy Day Care" works, the more threatened Gwyneth Harridan becomes, which leads to a showdown.
Now it's the daddies against the baddest mother of them all.
Don't f-- up Casablanca, J.Ho and Ben-Lo
This comes from the popdirt.com Web site, and I saw it on another board. Boo, losers!
PLAY IT AGAIN J.LO
Hollywood couple J.Lo and Ben Affleck have secured a deal to remake the classic movie Casablanca, according to reports.
The pair are said to be delighted with the multi-million pound deal and are now in talks wirth American producers.
The original film was a hit in 1942 starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
Affleck will take the romantic lead as Rick, the Daily Star reports.
Lopez will play the former lover who had jilted him but comes back into his later life - married to a French resistance leader.
Actor Ben is reportedly a big fan of old movies and the project will give him a chance to indulge his passion.
It will not be the first time the two have appeared on screen together - they recently starred in the hit romance Jersey Girl.
A friend said: "They are overjoyed at the propspect of being in Casablanca together.
"It is the chance for them to show how much they love each other through their on-screen chemistry."
Lynda Lopez, J. Lo's sister, was the guest co-host on The View this morning. She says that this report is a complete fabrication and that the both of them have too much respect for that film to ever want to remake it.  We'll see which story is true.
Sheesh, I hope that Lynda is right. Because I don't need to see J. Ho and Ben-Lo (who is looking more Latino with his fake-and-bake tan every day) mess up Casablanca.
I agree, Soror. There are some movies that needn't be remade, and Casablanca is one of them.
