I admittedly never liked Star Jones too much. I think she's pretty tacky. But I will say that the only time I could accuse her of being classy was when it mattered - last night on Larry King.

Still think Al is gay, though.

Absolutely. Meredith has a much better position, more visibility and a lot more money. She would have to be nuts not to jump on that wagon.

This isn't like being true to your school or your sorority -- this is big time business, and Meredith is now pretty close to the top.

Let's see. The TODAY Show or The View. Uh, give me about a tenth of a second to think that one over...

Of course. I just left a job that wasn't necessarily a bad fit for a job that is a much better fit (and is paying me what I deserve based on my education and experience). I'm sure some of my co-workers hated to see me go, but they couldn't begrudge me the opportunity. You have to grow up sometime.

Wasn't Meredith's contract with TV up as well? I remember reading reports months ago that Mere's and Star's contracts were up for renewal. Meredith JUMPED at the chance to leave. I'm sure all knew The View's ratings were declining.

IF they thought STAR had THAT much pull with viewership, she was a BAD... SHUT MY MOUTH (smile)! I didn't give her enough credit.

That's what everyone involved here needs to hear.

They're not playing in the minor leagues here.

It reminds me of a very old line: "When you play with my football, you play by my rules."

In our position, we may not understand all of those rules -- but Star and Barbara, the ABC management and the agents certainly do.

The other old rule that Star may not have fully considered is that you never burn a bridge, because you never know who will be taking the toll at the next one you come to.

I wouldn't mess with Baba -- she's among the biggest of the big time.

That's what Dan Rather thought, too.

Dan put too much faith in a star producer and embarassed the network.

By the way, although their downfall was that they couldn't prove their story, nobody has ever disproved it either. It's still a classic situation of people on both sides pointing their fingers at each other.

I'd sell ringside seats! I am glad the self serving diva bridezilla bitch is gone from the view!

And yeah I think her hubby is a down low dude...

I don't see what folks are talking about as far as saying that she has an attitude/ego. To begin with this show has had incredible success from the begining with Star. People may not like her new weight loss or how she handled her wedding, but her personality has been a part of what has made the show a hit. Also, part of the appeal of the show is that they all have different personalities that often disagree. This is life, and perhaps is quite similar to our dynamic here on the board. We have those who are informed and act as mediators, those w/strong opinions, those who just talk but don't really add anything, old people, and then folks like Elizabeth who don't even know the day of the week. I mean that is the premise of the show. Everybody shouldn't be the same. Whether or not you identify with anyone of the characters or not doesn't mean that they deserve the shady exit that they gave her.

On a side note: Rosie sucks azz. Elizabeth is a ditz. Joy doesn't really know what she's talking about. Barbara is never there. What appeal is left now? W/o Meredith and Star it's gonna be the blind leading the blind.

I agree with marie wholeheartedly. I my opinion, star was the only one who brought flavor to the show, but I STILL couldn't get through an entire episode. star is engaging, affable, personable and of course highly educated and she will find a venue that will surpass what the view was and ever will be.

I have to agree. I don't know if I would be able to do that. Continue going to work where I know I'm definately not wanted. As much as I found her annoying, I have to give her great props for that, because how many of us could actually do that?

I knew as soon as they announced Meredith was leaving that my days of enjoying The View were over. She was the grounded, sensible one. I don't think The View needs another comic (like Joy). They needed a professional looking, sensible replacement for Meredith. Therefore, everything that has happened since that announcement makes no difference to me!
