CUNY Helps Out Both the CUNY system (link to article above) and JWU Rhode Island (and I'm hoping other campuses) are helping out and admitting victims. I can't find anything on the JWU website, and I already deleted the e-mail or I'd post it. In JWU's case, it is for RI students that were attending school at one of the affected schools.
It's great to see so many schools offering help to those in need.

Speaking of schools opening up for victims. I was @ Greek Info night with my chapter the other day, and I went over to the Chi Omega table to say hi to my friend. My friend introduced me to one of their sister that is here from Tulane. A sister even gave up her spot in their already full chapter house just for her when they found out she was coming! Her story really made me smile.

I was glad to read this about my alma mater.
19 Gulf Coast students enroll at Roosevelt University for fall semester
News Releases | Office of Public Relations
Chicago and Schaumburg, IL -- Wednesday, September 14, 2005.
When Hurricane Katrina hit on August 29, thousands of students attending Tulane, Dillard, Loyola and other universities in the New Orleans area instantly found themselves without a place to study for the fall semester. Many students had just unpacked their belongings when they were told to leave their residence halls and go home.
Roosevelt University announced this week that 19 Chicago-area students from seven Gulf Coast institutions are attending Roosevelt this semester, including three roommates from Dillard who plan to graduate in May. Many of the 19 students had already paid their tuitions for the fall semester, so Roosevelt, continuing its long heritage of social justice, provided them with financial assistance.
In addition, nine current Roosevelt students live in the Gulf Coast area. They have been contacted by University personnel to see if they need financial assistance or counseling.
Shortly after the semester began, Town Hall meetings were held at Roosevelt campuses in Chicago and Schaumburg to allow members of the Roosevelt community an opportunity to discuss ways they could help those left homeless by the disaster.
Some of the ideas discussed include a blood drive, fundraising campaigns, volunteering at Chicago human services agencies, helping out in the Gulf Coast area, and assisting Habitat for Humanity.

We just initiated our freshman into the house last night and one of the froshs was a cousin of a football player that went to our school so she transfered up here (U of I). Hard situation, poor girl. But at least she's surrounded by girls that all love her up here!
