Umm......

Ok, I know that this is old and what not, but I just can't help but ask some questions and I really don't care who responds.

I have talked to Casanova before one on one via telephone, and he did teach me a lot of things that I didn't learn during my process of joining Alpha Phi Omega. I respect everything that was told to me. Yes, I am proud to be apart of an co-ed organization, and in North Carolina, thats all I know, even from the hypest Kappa Psi chapter at A&T. My thing is, do we all pay dues to the same place? Did we all learn the same basic information? In my eyes, there is no difference anymore between APO and "vikes". Your legacy went out of the door when this organization became co-ed. And seeing that most of you went over after the fact, why did you still become a member even after you knew it was co-ed?

"Vikes" are trying to float on this fake line of being greek. Cookouts are cool, having your frat is cool, wearing your letters is cool, but APO nor anything dealing with Alpha Phi Omega is not under the Greek system. It just seems like you want to be something that this organization was not meant to be. I mean, you could have chosen from being a Kappa, Sigma, Alpha, Iota, or Que if you wanted to make sure that there was no way in hell that a female was going to be in your organization. Oh, let me change that, those organizations could have chosen you. But it just seems like there is a lot of anger toward something that is not going to change. So please deal with the fact that we females of Alpha Phi Omega are still brothers. I don't need to "know my place" in anything, because I was told my place the day I held up my hand and repeated a few chosen words.

Some of you need to go find a hand book, and start from the beginning. Its about SERVICE! Leadership, friendship and SERVICE. I personally am not seeing anything of these traits being shown. Any greek organization and NON-greeks(as we are) stand on the same principle of Service, not who can exclude who from what.

I didn't know anything about a cookout, and actually could really care less, but I know that you, "vikes" are no better than anyone else who took Alpha Phi Omega into their hearts. Maybe you were lied to and told differently, but you are not. Think about it!

PS---I still think that there are some rejects up in here who tried to make something out of nothing....AND YES I SAID IT!

humm point of order *and i am about to dip all up in yall ish*

you got greek letters your greek....
not the same of the social greeks no...

as for vikings thinking they are better.. humm i dont think so
there are some chapter of apo that dont like the coed thing and no matter how hard you try they wont have women

there is nothing wrong with all male chapter bonding...

and the women that join a frat that started out as all male
need to relize even though you are there does not mean the men have to like it...
there are members who were in the frat before '76
i think some of yall need to chill
yes women are in apo
and yes theyare not going any where
but i think you all *some of the women* need to take a step back and see the big picture...

on the same token the men in the frat need to realize
the women are not going any where and you cant make them
and you might not like it but they are there and you gotta deal with it...

respect is needed on both sides male and female....
i swear your founder is rolling over in the grave right now
this is not even cute...

and for thoes people who are thinking of not joining apo because of this... PLEASE GET A GRIP
all groups fight... when you have more than 2 people in the org...
join the org because of what is stands for and not some bs you saw on the net... and if you are that wishy washy.. you dont need to be an apo any way... nor do you need to be a gamma sig we dont need that kind of wishy washy-ness lol

be blessed yall and have fun at the cookout next weekend....

Re: Can the "BRUHS" have something of there own?

As I read this post, I decided that there were SEVERAL things I wanted to reply to. I went thru this post and these are the things that I would like to reply to and my opinion on them. I do realize and respect that you have your own opinion and you are entitled to that, but I would like to express my opinion on these issues. This is by no means to be a personal attack of the person who wrote this...

1. Now first off i pledge AY-PHI-QUE and when i pledge i was made aware of the co-ed stuff but i was like, "ok wow"...

Did you pledge Alpha Phi Omega Nationally? Do you have a membership card? If you do then you joined a co-ed fraternity. This is something that you have to think about before you join anything. It's bigger than your chapter, section, and region...this is something National. Women are admitted nationally...get over it. Maybe you should have put more thought into this before you pledged a co-ed fraternity.

2. i was like wow do we ever have a time to ourselves? I undertand that there are females in the frat and there mark has been made, but this is the only thing that we got to have for ourselves and i can see if nationals put on this event but this event is for us ALL MALES and not the APO'S

When do you need time to yourselves? Do the females in APO have time to ourselves? Do the white people in APO have time to themselves? What about the Black People? ASians? Japanese? Ok, OK, we're gonna have all the males meet today, females, tomorrow, whites day 3, blacks day 4...democrats on day 67... What is the need for it?

3. your chapter had a couple of head strong males in it? how would you fell if they came to one of your events and starting sining your songs and stuff like that?

Why do the females have to be head strong and even if they are what's wrong with standing up for what you believe? Men get so insecure when you see a woman who is willing to stand up for what she believes in, it's ridiculous. Who said if we came we would be singing and what not? We are not trying to infiltrate your organization. Let me break that down for you infiltrate, To penetrate with hostile intent IF I (and I can only speak for myself) decide that I will go, it will not have anything to do with trying to ruin your fun. IF I DECIDE that I will grace you with my presence, it will be to meet new brothers, meet some cool people, kick it with the frat, and watch my line brothers and my prophytes step. I could careless about any type of song you will be singing. Furthermoe, my membership card says Alpha Phi Omega, so if it's a dealing with Alpha Phi Omega, then you damn skippy I got rights to it. (meaning wearing letters etc. not meaning anything related to aye-phi-que)

4. I can see why the BRUHs are getting upset because as i see it nationals are changing what we hold dear to our hearts and this is the only way that we can keep our own tradition alive and have some APOS come in our event and try to change it then i say that they sound not come..

I'm sorry, I forgot about Nationals conspiracy against you guys. I must have missed that memo. And again, just cuz we coming don't mean that we are trying to make changes to your event.

5. but anyway i can only state my mind on this but if you ask me i think that this event should be for the MALE members of APHIQ

If it were up to you women would probably also be bare foot and pregnant bearing your children.

6. not those members that like APO and Senusret I i do not know you but from what i have heard and read from my FRAT bruh xtc i personaly do not like you

It's a message board. We are all here to express our views. You don't have to like any one, and if you are basing your views on someone based on another person's views, then maybe you need to revamp your plan.

7. i want to know why are you a suspect brother? and "if" i even meet you or vice verca i do not think that we would get along!...also where is your side kick at? the GSS/APO you and here are not spys for the NATIONAL office are you?

I would hope that Nationals, Senusret, and the GSS/APO that you speak of have better things to do than to be apart of a "Conspiracy Theory" (deaconess and mighty mouse those quotation marks are for you. ) Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear...

I'll end on that cuz 7 is a good number...damn good number

Alpha Chi Chaper and a member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Psi Phi Chapter both residing at Tennessee State University, I would say:

"well, well, yes it's history and history and heritage should be attained and kept rolling. there is nothing wrong with an organization that was founded upon service, leadership, and friendship to have a gathering for the members who branched off and started their own organization sort of speaking. this event is every vike right and all vikes should be encouraged to go to be informed of what they pledged. but you my fraternity brother, unless you joined before 1976, have to accept the fact that women are in this organization and what kind of leadership are you displaying making comments saying you dont like a brother in the fraternity cause she is female, or is that what i interperted. i might have gotten you misunderstood, but you are in a co-ed fraternity.now deal with it!!!!!!!!!!! i guess you will never understand unless you are from a co-ed chapter and have to deal with the females in this organization."

my opinion--- i dont give a flying flip about who shows up at the picnic, my line brothers will be there. and i will be there to support them in the step show and then be on my merry little way and hope yall vike it up the whole got dang on weekend

email me so we can chat...
my sentiments xactly

I stand by my original statement wishing I had the ability drop some of y'all from your pledge classes. Because if you believe in some of the things you do, APO REALLY MADE A MISTAKE ON YOU.
I swear as the yrs go on I love you more and more!!! Why was I thinking that...a lot of this is the same person. Lol at the later part...

You so gangsta for the last part about the mistakes...ha ha

X you r so right and i respect you very much for saying that right now...

and that's why stuff passes that we don't like. this is not a an attack at you casanova, but 2 many brothers in the frat don't participate in events like this. go to conferences, sectionals, regionals, nationals, go to workshops, go to service projects, who is there? who's making the changes. If 99% of the people don't want the toast song changed and 1% do, but the 1% is in the majority as far as representation at Nationals...it's gonna pass. I don't want the toast song to be changed either, and I will be there in Blue and Gold giving them all my 25 cents worth...

wow this is getting ridiculous. Now let me justr say a statement here, give a little history lesson, we are fighthing eachother over an issue that nationals did it 76. Now they told EVERY chapter that if they wanted to stay all male it was ok, see that was the problem and thats whay started this whole issue. Now we have all amle chapters who dont like the fact that the frat is co-ed. its not either your or mines place to say they should deal with it. The decision passed in 76 made it like this, and another thing, this " they wanna be black greeks". now history will tell u that black greeks didnt start top tdo things like, stroll ( party walk) calls, handsigns untill the 70's and by then APO was at almsot every black univeristy, and if you from a balkc university you will knwo that most frats and sorors , business, social , service, band, chior, do all those thing mentined before, so who to say that APO shouldnt be doing it. so thats a very ignorant statement. And this si the problem. im pledged at a white co-ed university and when i found out that apo was doing this at the black universites i though the same way, but that was a lack of knowledge about the black culture in apo. i have to run but i will be continuing this history lesson, casue some black people in apo dont knwo the history and lok at the black chapters and thing they are wannabe black greek which its far from that.

Ok, yeah you may say that Greeks didn't start doing their thing until the 70's and I am not trying to say that one is better than the other, I am saything that WE ARE NOT GREEK. I don't care about party hopping, strolling, or whatever else APO does at "black" schools. I mean, its funny to me. Its becoming stero-typical. You make your organization what you want it to be. I understand all the black culture that is placed in APO, but why should I only be concerned with that side? It wasn't founded by a black person. WHy take all the things that you learned at an "white" school and flip tha script because you were told about how it went down at black schools? You don't have to be all male to understand the "black"side of things. You don't have to be all male to stroll and whatnot. I am just saying, it is 2004 and people need to let it go. Females are here to stay. So what the hell are these "vikes" going to do when this shit is ran by a woman? Tell her to know her place?

For some strange reason, I couldn't log on...so I'm using this account to post this reply.

My question is, what is your definition of Greek? When did APO become non greek? I've read some very uneducated posts here on greek chat, but frankly...this one takes the cake! I'm out.

ONCE AGAIN, THIS POST COMES FROM THE TYPING FINGERS OF BROTHER STRAWTER!! PIRATE...UM SQUARE, THIS THREAD IS IN NEED OF A SHUTDOWN!
