Carrie's style is way over the top for me sometimes. Those shoes were hideous! I would have NEVER paid that kind of money for those shoes. Kyra, on the other hand, was totally out of line. How are you going to offer to pay for my shoes, then try to barain with me for how much you feel you want to give me? If I paid $485 for them, you are going to give me $485! Like Carrie said, if it weren't for her request to take her shoes off, she would have still had them. Besides that, how are you going to host a party at your home and request for some grown a$$ folks to walk around barefoot. How dare she try to belittle someone for how much they want to spend on themselves! I did kind of realize that some people that get married and have kids make me sick. Control your dayum kids! Teach them some dayum manners! And NO, I don't want to her those little boogers on the answering machine, either!

I was GROSSED OUT by Hairy Harry walking around butt naked!! How gross can he get? And Charlotte is really starting to irk me with the frigidness. I mean, dayum. One of your best friends is SAMANTHA! 'Nuf said.....

Blair had me sitting there with my mouth agape as soon as he set foot on the screen. Dayum that man is fine....

Kyra was having a party for goodness sakes, she should have planned to have her floors cleaned after the party. I have hardwood floors and never ask folks to take off their shoes or boots, and they get scuffed often, but I suck it up and drive on. Kyra was trifling, and she knows who has those ugly shoes...

Get off my white couch with your stanky flat butt NOW!!!! That was gross, but I would have a fit if he walked aroung ALL the time naked.

I actually liked Carrie's outfit, sans the printed capri leggings and the black bra showing. I thought the dress was fabulous and metallic shoes are really in right now. I don't know what Patricia Field is doing over there behind the scenes, but every episode Carried has her black bra showing. Who would honestly wear a backless dress with a regular old bra??? Not cute.

I do agree with what Carrie said on the show though, if you are single, no one celebrates your life. If you choose the career track, rather than the mommie track, nobody ever gives you a gift or throws you a party to celebrate your successes. When was the last time someone bought a career woman a gift to congratulate her on her latest promotion or the successful closing of a deal or merger. Seems like career gals and single gals and every gal who isn't married and/or with children is getting the Shaft.

Talking

I like this episode a lot too.

Guys...last night when Blair and Miranda were watching Jules and Mimi...did anyone else get the impression that Blair is gonna be gay? He was like "I love a brotha with an accent," then sat with his legs all crossed. I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOO. But we will see.

I kinda liked Carrie's Manolo's. I agree with most everyone else that I would NOT have worn them with that 'fit though. This ep reminded me of The Good, The Ghetto, The GC, lol, from when someone stole ST's Manolo's.

I CHEERED when the saleswoman in the MB store was like control yo' child! lol

This season is one of the best, imo.

What you do is get a group of your single, professional friends together at least once a month. Every month, change the activity. At this time, you all can discuss all the signicant things that have gone on personally or professionally since the last activity. (This is what I do with local friends) For those friends who are many miles away....we normally send each other cards, flowers...etc.

Additionally, don't forget to reward YOURSELF... ALWAYS.

Those friends of mine who are married with kids, I just keep a (mental) list of what I have purchased and MAKE SURE they will receive an invite to the graduation, wedding, housewarming etc. (which ever comes first )

I hope not, and also when the condo board was talking about him and his finances, remember they were saying he may not have enough funds for the place after paying his alimony, so let's hope it was a woman that he was married to.

Oh that was pure classic.

Did anyone catch that Kyra wanted everyone to take off their shoes because of the dirt picked up and the kids, but her husband was sitting there smoking a joint, but I guess that was okay ot have around the kids.....just wondering.

I think that the reason SJP has been wearing bras with straps so much with her outfits is because she recently had had her baby when they started filming and her breast were still producing milk.

I liked her shoes and the dress but I would not have put it together the way P. Fields did.

SJP was wearing the bra-look before she had her son. plus, i didn't like the Manolos, i think she paid way too much for that style i do feel Charlotte's pain. the idea of used tea bags sitting around my house would drive me nuts. i don't see myself compromising on neatness

I saw that "look" last night in a movie called "The Banger Sisters". Goldie Hawn had a backless shirt with a BLACK BRA. I know she hasn't recently had a baby. I guess hers can be contributed to ummmmm gravity?

Oh that's right! I forgot about that part! He would have had to have been married to a woman to be paying alimony.

Thumbs up Blair Underwood article

Underwood a Twist to 'Sex and the City'
Mon Aug 18,11:35 PM ET

By LYNN ELBER, AP Television Writer

LOS ANGELES - Miranda's new squeeze in "Sex and the City (news - Y! TV)" is handsome, successful and charming. He's also black — notable for a show that has been almost uniformly white in its casting.

The series about four single New Yorkers is finally allowing the city's ethnic diversity a central role.

Blair Underwood (news), introduced in Sunday's episode, plays Dr. Robert Leeds, the New York Knicks team physician.

The series about four New Yorkers, starring Sarah Jessica Parker (news) (who's also an executive producer), Kim Cattrall (news), Kristin Davis (news) and Cynthia Nixon (news), is in its final season. (It's a divided year: 12 episodes are airing through Sept. 14, then the series is to return in January 2004 with eight concluding episodes. Underwood is appearing through the end of the first batch.)

"We all of us, and no one more than Sarah Jessica, had lobbied for this for a long, long time," Nixon, who plays Miranda, said in an interview. "I'm a huge fan of the show, but if we had area in which we really could use improvement, it's certainly this one."

The comedy only lightly has brushed up against New York's diversity before.

Cattrall's character, bed-hopper Samantha, had a handful of flings with minorities and a romance with a Hispanic lesbian (Sonia Braga (news)).

But the inner circle of friends and serious boyfriends remained steadfastly white. Like "Friends," another New York-set series, "Sex and the City" came under scrutiny for painting the town one color.

Last season on "Friends," a black love interest (Aisha Tyler) was introduced in a story line that, like the "Sex and the City" plot featuring Underwood, ran for four episodes.

"I think Candace Bushnell, who wrote the original columns (on which 'Sex and the City' was based), the world she writes about is extremely white," Nixon said. "And (series creator) Darren Star would say, `I know these people. I move in these circles. It's a very white circle.'"

"That's an argument to be made," Nixon said. "But it is six years later now, and I think it's irresponsible. I think it's about time."

Miranda, a single mother and lawyer who's been moping about lost chances with Steve, her child's father, meets Leeds when he moves into her building. She's on the co-op board that vets potential buyers.

Here's Nixon's take on the encounter: "There's a sense Miranda is trying to push him because, A, he's a great candidate, he's a doctor, he earns a lot of money, he's very personable; B, a little diversity would be nice; and C, she's trying to hide the third thing that she thinks he's utterly adorable and would love to have him in the building.

"She's masking her attraction to him in political correctness, which I think is funny."

Underwood has been a television groundbreaker before. In 2000, he starred in the CBS drama "City of Angels," a TV rarity with its predominantly black cast. The series, which he said was unable to find its creative footing quickly enough, was canceled because of low ratings.

"There was a lot of responsibility weighing on that show. At least we did two seasons," said Underwood, whose upcoming projects include the film "How Did It Feel?" and the animated Nick at Nite series "Fatherhood," based on Bill Cosby (news)'s book. The actor just signed to star in the film adaptation of the novel "My Soul to Keep."

He found out he was being offered the "Sex and the City" role in the usual way, through a call from his agent, although the conversation started with a less-than-usual query.

"The first thing I remember hearing was, `Do you have any problem with nudity?'" Underwood recalled. "My answer was, `Hey, I'm not ashamed.'"

He enjoyed every aspect of filming, especially a scene in Madison Square Garden ("The 10-year-old child inside of me that loves sports was in seventh heaven that day") and working with Nixon, whom he calls "amazing."

Underwood also expressed satisfaction with the colorblind story, which barely takes notice of the ethnic difference between his character and Miranda.

"It's a non-issue," he said. "I think that's more current in this day and age, when it's not a novelty to see interracial dating on television anymore."

That's especially true when you're dealing with characters such as those on "Sex and the City," he said, described by Underwood as "four progressive New York women in 2003."

"Who are they going to bow down to or be with concerned with or kowtow to? Not their parents or society," he said.

Does that make it more surprising that the series had refrained from such relationships? "I didn't have that conversation with them (the producers)," Underwood said. "But if this is their final season, it's time."

I love the way his hair looks. I did not like the sex scene between him and Miranda, was it just me? On another note I was CTFU when Carrie found out that he was in a mental institution. Can she have good luck with at least one man??

On another one of my boards, a correspondent said she hoped that SATC would find some sisters to confront Miranda over her relationship with Blair Underwood. What do you think about that?

Although Charlotte didn't get a lot of screen time, I'm wondering why Anthony acts like a lil' biabia around Stanford. There's something deeper there.

Carrie looked real good with her bobbed hurh. I'm not a big David Duchovny person (never got into the X Files), but I liked his character.

Sammy, of course, cracked me up. Her story reminded me of Lucy Liu and the Birkin bag a few seasons ago.

Hmm. . . finding some sisters would be nice, but I think it's too little too late.

I would like to see what really is going on between Stanford and Anthony. Perhaps they had a little something going on in the past?

Sam and her "Madonna" accent had me cracking up. And when the other three slid away and she kept going was even funnier.

I'm sad that the show is not coming on next Sunday.
