i'm really looking forward to watching tonight but i gotta say that i would have chosen different voices for the characters. the voices they have are not the voices i "hear" when i read the strip.

It was funny! It may be a little too raw for CN, they may have to put that on HBO!

Why did the banker's grandson reminded me of a wannabe Eminem?

Uncle Ruckus was off the chain!!

Was I the only one feeling that the voices didn't match the characters?

It came on at 11 p.m. Sunday. If you're willing to stay up until 3 a.m. it will be back on. It will also be back on midnight Saturday night.

Soror MeezDiscreet: I remember what you said but it seemed like the voices didn't fit more after I saw the show.

BTW: Didn't the banker looked like Ed Asner?

yay 4 the Boondocks

This is the only "The Boondocks" thread i've found on GC...smh, other people must be missing out. Anyway, even though I never really got around to reading The Boondocks, the show had me rolling and I think I'll be catching it on the regular.

Uncle Ruckus's song blew me...Riley shooting dude threw the window blew me...and i'm mad the Granddad missed a piece of the movement cuz he wanted to get his raincoat, lol.

And interesting review by the dude from NPR, however, I didn't see anything wrong w/ McGruder's approach. You can't really compare it to South Park, Dave Chappelle show, or Everybody Hates Chris because the type of humor doesn't seem to be same. They all raise uncomfortable truths but I feel The Boondocks approach (at least from what I got from the show) is a dryer humor when it comes to political and socio-economic truths. Edgier? Maybe, but what's wrong with that?

I felt that way moreso for Huey and Riley than for Granddad.

FYI: The banker was Ed Asner. I read the credits.

Goodness I was cracking up at that part. I thought Pops' voice was good for the grandad.
