I really don't care either way. As an alumna, the only thing I really think is important is my pin.

It's the chapter's responsibility to educate new members on the responsibilities of presenting themselves as ladies, and up to the exec board and initated members to lead by example and continue this method.

So? Delta Sigma Theta specified that tattoos and brands are against policy and have strictly enforced regulations regarding our official symbols. Some organizations are more lenient regarding those things and that's their business.

Most of the stuff people have listed in this thread are against Delta protocol. My Sorors know that and they understand the possible results of violating protocol. This is why my Sorors are often instructed to patron Delta licensed vendors only. When I was in undergrad, a Greek vendor came to my campus with some inappropriate 'nalia that the NPC sororities often bought but the NPHC sororities usually did not. We informed the vendor that the stuff was against our protocol and that NONE of the Deltas on (at least) MY campus would purchase it. He said that he noticed he had a hard time selling the items on every college campus and agreed not to display and reorder them.

Why not do something productive with your time instead of whining about what clothes you think are inappropriate.
World hunger & AIDS...not thongs & sweatpants.
Shut up.

I don't know if it's this fuckin weed in me, but pinksigma's comment, albeit very irrelevant to the topic, made me think. There are a few billion people in the world who really don't care what our letters mean, let alone where somebody wants to put them. Personally, I will follow my fraternity's protocol regarding para, but it's much more important to aid the downtrodden. Now I'm hijacking this thread. my bad.

wait, one more thing... to be honest, if I was hanging out with a girl who had her sorority's letters on her thong, I probably wouldn't say anything until the next morning. And I'd probably start cheesin pretty hard. My mind wouldn't be on greek life at the moment.

LMAO.

I agree with DSTCHAOS. Z-Chi's aren't allowed to have most of the things on this thread either. I think it's about being responsible and wearing what you are allowed to and also recognizing that tacky is tacky, lol. some things are just tacky.

Weed induced rants. If you honor your org's 'nalia protocol, what is the point of your rant? Obviously, none of us think this stuff is the most important thing in the world. That goes without saying.

Make sure you "just say no" while you're aiding the downtrodden.

Does Zeta Chi produce a list of the banned items?

Zeta Sigma Chi doesn't have a list persay of what you can't have. It's more of a protocol of what is appropriate, which seems similar to some of the NPHC organizations.

I always wondered if other groups did have rules on what was appropriate or what was not appropriate because of what I've seen online. Does NPC/IFC have any rules at all on appropriate peri?

Delta has both written and unwritten protocol. Of course, the written protocol is more universally (and more easily) enforced.

I feel you. I tend to zone out sometimes. I figured I would just say what was on my mind at the moment instead of sobering up and preparing something totally perfect. It's probably what I would have said had we all been in the same room hanging out.

I'm going to go back to the orignal post. I don't really think lettered thongs are appropriate. But I do think they make great gag gifts for sisters who are getting married, etc. I have more of a problem with shirts that have dirty or degrading phrases, or even put down other groups.

I totally agree..... also someone mentioned this earlier and its so vital. Many GLO's have their letters and all insignia for their group trademarked. Sigma kappa, I know, we have licensed vendors. Basically groups that we approve of making items. If chapters/member use an unlicensed vendor and our NHQ knows we send out something to the chapter highly encouraging them to use a licensed vendor and if they havea great local place get them hooked up to be licensed.... so if these places are making "innappropriate" items or phrases we can better monitor them and educate our women on good panhellenic spirit and proper attire
