Yep, Towson is back up =). I believe WVU closed because of hazing.

I'm a bit late to this, but I wanted to address something:

to the best of my knowledge, SDT was never on Stanford campus. The NPHC sorority Sigma Delta Theta is, however, on campus and doing well.
As for chapters that are open/dormant in my sorority I have no idea about the current list. However, for Stanford, we once had Sigma Kappa, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, and Gamma Phi Beta along with the current open chapters of Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi. Sigma Kappa closed early in Stanford's history, and all sororities were abolished in 1944. After Title IX, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi, and Delta Gamma returned to campus in 1978. Delta Delta Delta came back, I think in 1984, and Chi Omega came back in 1991. Delta Gamma has since closed (1999) but is much missed.
Edited because I was having issues with my greek letters this morning. Also wanted to add that the above blurb is extremely accurate regarding NPC sororities at Stanford. If you want my sources (historically or otherwise) feel free to PM me

I can't believe I didn't catch this before - ZTA has another closing to add to that list. Their chapter at Western Carolina University closed in 2002.
Also, when was AST ever at Wingate? Unless there's a "Wingate" other than the one I'm thinking of in NC. I'm pretty sure it's only ever been Chi O and Tri-Sigma for like the last 10 yrs or however long since greek life started, before AZD colonized there 2 yrs ago.

Unless they are running underground, SDT is not active there. The NPCs active on campus are Chi Omega, Tri Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Pi Beta Phi.

aopirose,
did they tell use at LI that perhaps soon Stanford's AOII chapter might be rechartering? And I heard Syracuse's AOII chapter could be rechartered as well...

Stanford and Syracuse are certainly on our "wish list" but as far as I know, neither are open for expansion. Therefore, rechartering would be a long way off at these schools. That is assuming of course that we are invited to colonize.

I hate to say it, but I doubt Stanford will be open to expansion for a long time to come. While the campus seems to be embracing MLGOs, NPC and NIC GLOs are definitely not campus favorites in the eyes of the students and the administrators. While the hiring of Faith Kazmi may be an indication of a changed opinion in the eyes of the administrators, the student body is not likely to change its opinion without some major changes in the way greek life is handled not only by the university, but by greeks themselves. The system is extremely small and the intersorority council and interfraternity council are not organized or strong. I loved being greek while I was there, but there need to be some major improvements in the system and major changes in administration/campus attitudes before the campus opens to expansion.
I do think that in the event that the campus does open to expansion, it will first open to groups who were previously on campus, making Sigma Kappa, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, and Gamma Phi Beta the most likely organizations.

DFE (6)
Hartford
Embry-Riddle
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts
Ohio State
Embry-Riddle
Cornell
+1 colony (Southern Indiana)
Just a little clarification on this. We closed ONE chapter of Embry-Riddle, not 2.
And a point someone made a few pages back about the Greek Life climate at some of the schools with multiple closings, SUNY Oneonta is a PRIME example. AEPhi closed for hazing, and that group continues to use AEPhi, even though they've been threatened with the proper lawyer speak items. SDT closed there as well, and DPhiE closed this past semester. Now SDT is back at Oneonta, but there is a HUGE culture of hazing there, whether anyone likes to admit it or not, and from what I know, all of the Oneonta closing were hazing related.
So yes, there are many reasons why orgs close There's an example! I don't think any amount of orgs closing relates to the national orgs strengths.

Did I read right? KD at Pittsburg State? The Pitt in Kansas?
I have discussed this this with the Greek Advisor several times. Expansion of Soroitys.
KD was there and seemed strong but after about 2-3 years disapeared.
That would be Great. Only 3 Soros there.
Towson, Md., for those that dont know, LXA has a Colony there too, or recolo.
Wher is ZTA going in Ks? Has to be either Guessing UK, KSU, PSU, WSU, or maybe ESU! Oh Washburn, but dont think so.

No Tom, that was KD chapters that are closed. The only one in that bunch in that post above that's reopening is Towson. WVU & Pittsburg State remain closed.

And our KD chapter closed two years ago.
Towson did re-open after being closed two years. I'm not really sure why.
WVU closed for low numbers, I believe, same as us.

Bekibug ...
the two colonies are still in place and you probably want to edit the list and remove Nu - Univ. of Washington, and Beta Pi - Indiana University ... both have reopened and are doing very well.
