I'm a Tennessee Greek along with others in my family too!
I was born and raised in Nashville, and now I'm a Phi Mu (Kappa Nu) at Lambuth University in Jackson, TN.
My mom was born and raised in Ripley, TN and then was a Zeta Tau Alpha(Delta Mu) @ UTM (on a side note, i found her badge this weekend, it was kinda cool to see that)
My brother was also born and raised in Nashville and then was a SigEp(TN Epsilon) @ Tennessee Tech.

I am a Yankee by birth, but in my heart, the south is my home. I am a Phi Delta Theta alum from Belmont University in Nashville. I'm not currently living in Tennessee, but plan to move back in the near future. I fell in love with Nashville when I moved there for school, and plan to spend the rest of my life (or the majority of it) living there.

question I have for frat alumni at UTC. My son is going through recruitment this fall at UTC. I also have a daughter who is a Tri Delt at UT Knoxville. Of course with her we had tons of recs, etc. She has said that recs are not necessary for frats at UTC and in general. This info was given to her from many frat friends of hers. So the big questions is...do pnm need recs for frats? Thanks so much!

Just a heads-up, TNmom - some fraternity men react VIOLENTLY to the use of the word "frat" so you might want to warn your son NOT to refer to a fraternity with the nickname just in case.
Good luck to him!

And fraternities don't use recs. I never heard of them until I came too GC. Fraternity recruitment in general tends to be pretty unstructured compared to sororities.
