Yes, I am well aware of how old the posting is, but I am new and I wanna add in my 7 cents...... I just got my braids for the first time last saturday. I have a problem with "stress spots" that travel though out the sides and back of my hair. I thought it would be best to give these perms a break. I am loving these braids, I just have to get used to long hair. I never knew how much your own hair (if long) can get in the way. Now I see why so many women rock pony tails. Thank you Nikki1920 because I learned a lot from you about which products to use. Because I went into this hair venture totally blind . I love my new look and so does everyone else.

Braiders in DC?
Sorors and Sisterfriends,
I'm looking for a good braider in Washington, DC that doesn't charge and arm and a leg. Preferably no more than $120 for individual braids with human hair. Let me know of anyone. Thanks.

I don't know any braiders in DC, but....
I got my hair braided last Thursday as an early b'day gift to myself (b'day was this past Hump-day). I hadn't had it braided in a few years, but I went with my tried and true color- AUBURN, and I didn't burn the ends this time and I love it!!!!!!!!

i dont know anyone in the area that will do them for under 150. however, the shop i used to go to in PG does a GREAT job and hair is included. Mimi’s African Hair Braiding Inc · 301-449-0977

uummm...im the type of person who will go on what other ppl recommend. I actually paid 240 for my braids...it was 190 but since I got the Bev Johnson hair it was 50 more...Im really happy with the braids...but I really think it was really pricey...I was in and out in 6 hours which I thought was pretty good. i was told to come back for a touch up in a month which is 25 and then to only leave them in for 2 months. to be honest Im really thinking about 3. Where I live its a lot of small briading shops and I should have checked out others and called around for prices. I live in Greensboro NC any one ones of some else cheaper in my area pls send me the info and I will check on them in 3 months Thanks

I am VERY claustrophobic [sp] and can't sit in one spot for very long, so even though I LOVE the look of micro-braids, I will never get any. When I get tired of my hair in the summer, I just have my Momma corn-row it straight back. At the end of the summer, I have maximum growth with little damage that I ordinarily would have done due to styling. Hair needs a break sometimes, you know?

I plan to get my hair braided this weekend. I'm off tomorrow, so I may do it then, since I'll be pretty busy the rest of the weekend. I'll be getting my usual auburn colored box braids.
