Are you implying that Barbara would not have needed secret service when she rushed?

No - I was saying that Barbara was a smart cookie, but did not go through recruitment as Yale does not have NPC groups.

Linda Byrd Johnson may have, also -- the Zetas might know the status of this. I know she had Secret Service agents with her while she was a member (at UT Austin?). I remember hearing stories about this.

As did Lynda Bird Johnson. The secret service had their own rooms in the UT-Austin ZTA house.

My daughter was cut/dropped/released from all chapters/her legacy chapter(s) and she's absolutely perfect in every way!

Translation: Your daughter had no desire to join a sorority/legacy sorority and instead of telling you that she decided to blame it on us, and really released herself from recruitment.

I checked it is not on Yale's website - are sororities off campus at Yale like at Harvard?

No, I am fairly certain that they are recognized. We also have a chapter at Harvard, but when listing our chapters we are not allowed to use the Harvard name with our chapter name. However, I always see the Yale name with our chapters. I will go look for links.

It may just be that Yale minimizes it?

ETA: found the link. Definitely minimizing Greek Life: http://admissions.yale.edu/extracurriculars

At least they have it in the same font. I've seen worse - like, where you seriously can't find it unless you do a google search.

How's being impartial working for HQWest now?

Also, "it" has been corrected on Theta matters before.

So, perpetual sock-puppeteer or dumb noob, you decide!

My pwecious perfect daughter didn't feel comfortable with the chapter she had left or received a bid to AND/OR she was released by all chapters.

Translation: She was released by chapters she and/or mom deemed worthy, or daughter liked a chapter but mom thinks the chapter is beneath her daughter and refused to pay if her daughter joined that chapter.

Could you even imagine? I just don't know what I'd do if I heard something that ridiculous in real life. NOT that I don't believe it ever happens. People are crazy.

Oh Drole, and 33: how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Laughed so loudly I woke the Belgians and they now want to play ball or go to the park. Thank you both, I can go to sleep while pondering how to weave the bolded comments into a new signature tagline...

THIS is why you should have at least a partial delay on rush threads, in my opinion. Providing details makes it more interesting but makes you more liable to bite yourself in the ass. I like reading the really old rush threads because they actually used the sorority names, but you better be super duper kind to everyone if you're going to do that. And euphemisms don't work - as this thread so clearly states.
