Also, a lot of people in my death pool have him, so I'm kinda bitter about that.

I think people are celebrating the fact that "The leader of Al Qaeda" is dead, not "Osama Bin Laden the person" is dead.

i would be more inclined to believe this if i hadnt seen so many "celebratory OBL death" statuses on fb and heard of so many people partying to celebrate his death. im not sure people are thinking past OBL's death to the implications it will have on terrorism worldwide.

To be completely honest, I don't blame GWB for not taking him then (if he was ever in their hands at all). Just holding up a longstanding policy of not negotiating with the enemy until one of us is on our knees.

That's fine, but today, many are pretending that getting OBL was our goal all along.

I haven't seen that much. In fact, I've seen some quotes from GWB about finding Bin Laden being put on a back burner around mid-2001.
ETA: Sorry, not 2001, 2002.
But it looks like he said either he wasn't concerned about him or was going to find him - back and forth back and forth. Which is fine, I'm not really concerned about whether GWB really wanted him or not.

I didn't mean to imply that YOU were acting like it was the goal. I'm saying that those who feel unbridled celebration is appropriate lack perspective, as our foreign policy makes it clear that getting OBL is not that important to the continued safety of Americans.

Have you conducted a quick survey or is this simply your interpretation of celebration? Celebration means many things to many people. People celebrate in joy and sadness; in triumph and in hope of things to come.
That's also my response to people who think the celebrations are immoral and embarassing.

Of course it doesn't matter to you. Maybe when you actually fight for your country, then you can go around disrespecting others who have. Get off your high horse, skank.
