I didn't understand a single word of this post... I guess I'm old and out of touch.

Anyone know of a good champagne that's sweet and not very dry? I remember we had a really good one at the Palm in Nashville when J proposed and according to their menu it's Mumm's Cuvee Napa Valley. Any thoughts...?

I toured Mumm Napa this past fall.
Brut = dry
Demi sec = sweet
What about a bottle of Sophia from Coppola? It's kinda flowery & sweet & very reasonable priced California sparkling wine.

Here's what to look for on the shelf. The bottle is enclosed in cellophane. (Not to be confused; however, with Cristal!!!)

I got him SIR ELTON JOHN tickets, but the concert isn't until the 12th of April. I am not sure what he's going to do for me, but he had a mysterious phonecall and this morning he left early to "make some arrangements" so I get a surprise.
We try and do little gifts or appreciations for each other when ever the mood strikes us, so this is just a February event. We did consider getting each other heart rate monitors but it was kind of dorky.

Ahhh I failed! I spent a long time making heart-shaped cookies for my boyfriend, and they taste like crap. They aren't sweet enough among other problems. I'm not going to give them to him tomorrow. Should I just throw them out? Oh maaaaaaan!

Make him a coupon he can redeem for cookies later or for a finals care package. That way you have a homemade gift and time to do it (or redo it if something heinous happens).
I got Queso by Candlelight at work last night and flowers at home. However we ixnayed the candles as setting my office on fire would be in poor form. I made cupcakes and candy bags for some special peeps and saved some for us.

Question: if you were planning on celebrating Valentines this weekend - would you still expect flowers or something...? I was listening to the radio this morning and the woman on Kid Kraddick was saying how women in office settings have this pressure to see who gets the best V-Day gift and it made me laugh cuz it's kinda true. You always watch to see if people with SOs get flowers, etc delievered to their workplace. The guy I was dating senior year of college was in Iraq and he had flowers and two stuffed bears sent to my work and then called right after they were delivered and I will always remember that Valentines. Just wondering if I'm being to materialistic to want something special like that even if we're planning dinner, etc this weekend...?

I think you are - if you're not celebrating until this weekend, and he did something today, that would be like you getting TWO Valentine's Days. Most male minds don't work that way.
Also, I need to go buy my boyfriend a present sometime today. That's the pleasure of waiting until the weekend to celebrate!

Male and female minds don't work that differently but rather it's about socialization and expectations.
If men and women express their expectations to one another, and don't tolerate slackers, then both men and women will work to meet them if they care enough. If a man or woman conveys that they are expecting a present today and this weekend, that's what the expecation is and it isn't a lot to as for.
