I watched some of it. The "color commentators" were annoying me and some of their comments were unnecessary and probably somewhat offensive to some people.
I was kind of grossed out by the ridiculous amount of rib cage some of those women were sporting...

Miss USA wore a dress designed for her on Project Runway.

I didnt watch it but I saw the pictures from it on Yahoo this morning...if you thought Miss USA's dress was bad what did you think of Miss PR's? That woman couldnt have worn less clothing...

Most of those girls were very tall (Miss Canada was 6'1"). I don't really see what height has to do with pageants or looks (since there are plenty of short, beautiful women in the entertainment industry). This isn't a modeling contest.

ARGH. Then go find Miss Petite Universe or something.

Miss Universe is pretty much a modeling contest. There's no talent involved, and they are judged mainly on how they look.

A large number of the women are models to begin with.

Her dress was made entirely of metal bangels..... no one should be shocked that she passed out shortly after being crowned! I used to compete when I was younger.... it's hot as hell on those stages.... I couldn't imagine standing up there in a METAL dress!

I really felt that the only tasteful dresses were Trinidad and Tobago and Japan.

And for the record, Miss USA was 5'5". A lot of the women that we are discussing on here that are super tall are more than likely models in their home countries. While it may not always be fair, it's just the way the fashion industry works. The entire Miss Universe organization (from Universe all the way down to Teen USA) spend most of their year modeling.

Those were metal bangles?! I thought her dress had been caught in a paper shredder and luckily, draped well on her!

I actually didn't mind USA's dress too much, as at least it was tasteful. But I really thought either Japan or Switzerland would win (depending on the blonde factor).

The Ribcage factor was much, much too high!! You just know that the ones who didn't win are sitting in some hotel room, with a year's supply of Hostess snack cakes and Chocolate Martinis all over the place!
