Frances
Hi,
I am just sitting here in Fort Lauderdale waiting for the storm. According to the latest, the major concern for here is rain.
Stay safe everyone!

The latest forecasts are showing that it dropped to a Category 3 and that it will probably make landfall at Vero Beach. I'm hoping that it decreases even more in the next day.

This kid we know who goes to Embry-Riddle just brought home FIFTEEN of his closest friends to esacpe the storm! Some of them flew small planes up here.
Would I hate to see their food bill!
*and hoping that all our relatives down there will be okay*

My parents in the Orlando area were all prepared this morning. My little sis was heading out to the movies this afternoon LOL. My other sister said "I hope our house blows away so we can get a better one" mom and dad were not amused. They were barely touched by Charley and I hope they are lucky again!

I'm concerned because a good friend of mine has decided to stay in Royal Palm Beach, just west of West Palm Beach. He has his storm shutters on, a generator and food, but I'm still concerned.
I hope he'll be OK!

I swear Atlanta has doubled up its population in less than two days. Lots and lots of cranky Floridans are here, and now I am wondering whether I should go to the grocery store myself to pile up some food.
Last time I heard, Francis was near Nassau in the Grand Bahamas, and it dropped into category 2 now, still heading the US. The outer Francis has touched Florida now.
Keep safe, everyone.

My roommate said that yesterday alone, the rate of vehicles coming from Florida crossing FL-GA border is avg. of 500,000 vehicles/hr. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has an article about how "Evacuees jammed Georgia".

LOL, I feel bad after reading your post. At work, we had a conversation about all cranky Floridans, now I can feel you.
Come on over to Buckhead to chill at our bars!

But my worry is that if Frances turnes out to be a washout, that the next time a serious evac is ordered, people will blow it off and die by the thousands.

Same here. While Frances may have softened up her punch in the winds department, she can still do some serious damage in the massive amounts of rainfall she dumps over Florida.
I think most of Florida may have learned its lesson... then the authorities say "Get out!" you'd better heed their warning... otherwise if you don't, the next question they ask will be "Can I have your next-of-kin contact information? We're gonna need it to identify the bodies after the storm passes."
