More on me....

I went to charm school as a pre-teen.
I came in 3rd place in a national scholastic art competition.
I have a mole on my face like Marilyn Monroe (mine is real though).
I played basketball in Junior High.
I loved peanut butter and american cheese sandwiches.
When i was five years old, I ripped my leg wide open when I fell out of the treehouse in my backyward.

I love to read.
I love to laugh.
I have a temper.
I was sent to the school psychologist in 6th grade because I wasn't "social" enough.
I consider myself outgoing but I can zone people out every now and then.
There are times when I prefer solitude over anything else and that offends people.
I am a straight-forward honest person who hates people who lie.
I am misunderstood by many when they first meet me but after they get to know me--they can't live without me!!!
I am the most giving person I know
I am somewhat conceited, stuck on myself but never stuck-up!
I am the first in my family to go to college.
I am the mother of 3 children (2 boys 11 and 12 and 1 daughter who is 9)
I am a widow.
I am an excellent cook.
I have been to NY, NJ, PA, OH, TN, VT, NH, ME, GA, NC, SC, VA, WV, FL, IL, WV, MD, DC and Montreal, Canada.
I have the best boyfriend on this planet.
I am the baddest black woman you're ever going to meet!

I am my mother's only child.
I have about 10 half brothers and sisters- I've met 6 of them.
I am a confirmed bookworm- my favorite store is BORDER'S.
I am a speed-reader, the average time it takes me to read a novel is 3-4 hours, depending on the book.
I tend to read books in stores before I buy them. I usually have read a book all the way through once before I buy it. But I buy a lot of them, so bookstores love me anyway, lol.
I reread EVERYTHING. All of my books are in tatters.
I have never been any particular type- too cute to be a nerd or a tomboy, but not particlularly girly, certainly not pretentious enough to be artsy.

Guess it's my turn...

I was named after Muhammad Ali's first wife (I'ven ever put my name on the internet and this is the closest I will get!)

Most people misspell/misprounounce my first name

If I had been a boy my middle name would have been Barcardi. My country but college educated parent (they were both the first in their families to go to college) thought it was purrdy. THANK YOU GEE ZUS FOR MAKING ME A GIRL!!

I sucked a bottle until I was 3 years old.

I could not tell time on a "real" clock until I was in the 5th grade.

My first experience with public speaking (Easter Speach circa 1971) left me crying, now I am a corporate trainer

I was in the gifted program in elementary and junior high school

I was Drum Majorette for my junior high band

I took French in High School (2 years) and Spanish in elementary (6 years) and college (2 years) and can't do more than count in either one

I took piano and flute lessons and can't play either one.

I can still read music though

I was a statistician for my jr high and high school boy's basketball team

I got stitches in my forehead when I was 5 and I still have the scar

I had chicken pox, but no other childhood diseases

I am the youngest of 2 girls

My parents have been married over 40 years (but only God knows why!

I met my husband at a AKA, Mu Pi Chapter party the Friday before Labor Day

The next day my cousin married a guy who had the same First and middle name

They are no longer married

The hubby and I "knew" each other for almost 11 years before we got married (I never say dated because we did not date that entire time)

We still celebrate the weekend that we met

I have 3 neices and 2 nephews, but no children or pets

I was in the Honors program at Spelman, which afforded me the opportunity to live in the only air conditioned dorm on campus at the time

I was a national officer for the National Pre Alumni Council of the United Negro College Fund in college

I am a terrible speller

I am a procrastinator

I am incredibly sloppy everywhere but the kitchen

I lived in Minnesota for a little over 2 years. Other than that, I've lived in GA my entire life

My husband and I were || this close to moving to Rhode Island for a promotion for him, but he declined at the last minute. THANK YOU GEE JUZ!!!

I've visited FL, TN, SC, NC, VA, DC, NY, NJ, RI, KY, OH, IL, WI, LA, MS, AL, AR, AZ CA, TX

Outside of the US I've only been to Jamaica and Mexico

I had the joy of being the primary caregiver for my grandmother the last 8 months of her life

I love to read

I recently lost 30 lbs and am trying to lose another 20.

I drove a car for the first time at the age of 1.

I love Wonder Bread and used to eat it every day after school in 2nd grade for an after school snack. I used to eat like 5-7 slices.

I got a lot of whoopings as a kid.

I got my mouth washed out with soap as a kid for cursing.

I once tried to poison this white girl as a kid who lived down the street for me but my dad woke up and I told him it was some juice. I had to drink it. It was GROSS. It had hot sauce, Miracle Whip, water, ketchup, mustard, relish, paprika, etc. etc. etc. in it. I was 8. I didn't like her because she was a spoiled brat and had a dog and a swing set and a baby sister, LMAO oh and they ate supper and dinner. LMAO

You do realize Miracle Whip/mayo, ketchup, mustard, and relish with some water is 1000 Island Salad dressing, and "Special Sauce" at MickeyDs.

CT4 ~ convicted of attempted poisoning by condiments!!!

I got caught becaaaaaaaaaaaaaause I wrote the note on the back of a homework paper with my name on it. I got in TRUH BOL!!! WHOOPING and NO TV for 2 WEEKS TRUH BOL!! LMAO I can see it now her mother walking down the street with my math paper in her hand.

Dear Laura,

I hate you and your baby sister. You make me sick. I am tired of you being Princess Laya (i know how to spell it but trying to give you all the phonetic) and I have to be Princess Leea.

Anonymous

LMAO LMAO LMAO

We always played Star Wars at her house. SHe would be Princess Laya and I would be Leea. Her brother Jamie would be Luke Skywalker. My brother would be Han Solo and Josh would be R2D2. I was pissed years later when I discovered there was no Princess Leea. HEFFA!!

She had the best swing set plus a tire swing. Plus her mom always served snacks til they had to go in for supper. LMAO
